Lieberman proposes 'gang' of well-to-do Senators to work out 'solution' to upper income 'tax cut'
Edited on Tue Sep-21-10 02:39 PM by BurtWorm
Sure, we can trust a gang led by Lieberman to look out for the upper class's interests. No doubt about it.

http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/09/lieberman-starting-a-bipartisan-high-income-tax-cuts-gang.php

TPM noted yesterday that, in direct conflict with President Obama's agenda, Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) is organizing Senate Democrats and Republicans to temporarily extend Bush tax cuts for high-income Americans.

This afternoon, on his way into a weekly Democratic caucus policy lunch he explained that he'd like to head up another bipartisan "gang" to reach a tax cut compromise.

"All I'm saying now is that this is a place where we really do need -- it's an awful word --but we need another gang. We need a bipartisan gang to come to a bipartisan agreement on tax cuts," Lieberman said.

I asked Lieberman whether he's organizing such a bloc. He claims he's working on it: "I'm talking -- as always it'll be a 'group' -- but that's what I'd like to see happen."

11. I'd like to say I'm above that sentiment but that would be a lie.
Four inch heel, meet Senator Lieberman's prodigious schnoz. Of course, I'd never actually do it, but the fantasy is lovely on a tense afternoon.

9. I think it's the perfect word
Just because they don't dirty their hands like members of a street gang doesn't mean the final result isn't the same. Economic violence is just as deadly as physical violence, even if it takes longer for the results to be seen.

14. I propose that any of the wealthiest Americans who didn't create jobs
in the United States with their tax cuts over the past 10 years (and a proportionate number of jobs to what they got in cuts) should have to pay it all back with interest.

Any tax cuts for the wealthy on the pretense that they will create jobs with them should be targeted to make sure that is exactly what happens.

These cuts keep being sold on the BS theory that they use their tax cuts to create jobs, so to advocate for them when everyone knows that that is not what is really happening is basically fraud. Joe just want HIS tax cut.

15. Yeah, after that last 'gang' to avert the 'nuclear option' for approving conservative judges.
Of course, asshole Joe has no qualms about Republicans blocking every single judge and cabinet official and House passed billed.

16. Would that be "bipartisan" like the Cat Food Commission?
If that were the case we could expect the downtrodden wealthy to get refunds.
