Republicans block bill to lift military gay ban...Don't lose hope
This was bundled into the defense bill.. and even Republicans can only kneecap the military for so long. We are not going to let them have the Senate.. we are going to fight.

They are coming into an election cycle.. and if they refuse to fund the military.. well there will be another fracture in their party.

And it will get through.

Just don't lose hope

WASHINGTON – Senate Republicans on Tuesday blocked legislation that would have repealed the law banning gays from serving openly in the military.

The partisan vote was a defeat for Senate Democrats and gay rights advocates, who saw the bill as their last chance before November's elections to overturn the law known as "don't ask, don't tell."

With the 56-43 vote, Democrats fell short of the 60 votes needed to advance the legislation. It also would have authorized $726 billion in defense spending including a pay raise for troops.

Senate Democrats attached the repeal provision to the defense bill in the hopes that Republicans would hesitate to vote against legislation that included popular defense programs. But GOP legislators opposed the bill anyway, thwarting a key part of the Democrats' legislative agenda.

1. You know something..
I don't understand this. The wonderful wonderful polls say this country is in favor of the republicans taking over again.

Yet they blocked unemployment. Now they are blocking this gay bill. The screwed up the Health bill making the Democrats cave to them and hurting the public. The screwed up harsher provisions of the wall street and banker bill leaving some loop holes so they could ruin the economy again. The started wars draining our treasury. They outsourced our jobs. The approved torture.

And yet the public wants them back in. If you are like me you don't believe a damn one of those polls that put the republicans ahead. The only reason the media, the republicans themselves and the republican owned polling companies are putting the republicans ahead is, they are hoping that they can get the electronic voting machines programmed to give them the win. You know like in some of the primaries where only 69 people lived in a district for over 500 voted for the republicans. AND nothing was done. so that's why they are deceiving the public so they can make these wins in the general election look legitimate. But if the Democrats turn out in overwhelming numbers like they did in the last election, where they couldn't over come the shear numbers, we can win legitimately like we did then and the republicans stealing votes by programming the machine won't work. THEY ARE CROOKS, THEY WILL ALWAYS BE CROOKS.

2. I have had more than a few concerns about those polls myself..
I know this is a mid term.. and it is usually a much smaller turnout.. but I am hoping we can so flood them with numbers.. they can't get away with ginning the votes..
