Maybe there should have been a draft, after all |
|
Because if there had been a draft we would have been forced to confront the bullshit no gays in the military policy. The policy might work from a strictly administrative perspective if you have an all volunteer military, but if you have conscription, then it's a much more difficult policy to enforce. How many "fake gays" would have come out of the closet to avoid being drafted?
I am just venting in anger so I probably don't even mean half of what I am saying here.

1. Years ago I came on to a marine recruiter that kept bugging me in HS |
|
And I never got bugged by recruiters again. Good times...

4. There should not be a draft no matter what. |
|
The statement that there should is fighting words for many of us who opposed, and dodged, the draft.
And 'fake gays' did try to dodge the draft by claiming to be gay. That didn't make the military gay-friendly.
Please stop meaning the half that you are meaning here. ;-)

5. How about a draft only for the rich. |
|
We could have a 50% volunteer force and the rest should be made up of draftees from just those worth 5 million or more. I'm tired of the poor always fighting and dying so the rich can get richer.
Face it, the people go into the military usually do so to learn a trade or to get money for college. The rich don't have to serve and usually don't. Of course there are exceptions.
