Warnings from the Department of Homeland Security to get duct tape and plastic prompted a Connecticut man to wrap his entire house in plastic, according to a Local 6 News report.

The level has been changed 17 times, only once has it been raised to "Severe".

Particularly cynical is the fact that the Bush Administration spiked three Memorial Days in a row with fake terror warnings, presumably to distract people from the tens of thousands of Americans killed, wounded, and psychologically damaged during Bush's for-profit wars.

More amusing is the fact that after Bush himself got close enough to steal his last election in 2004, that was the virtual end of the terror-o-meter hijinks. The Bush Administration did not see fit to misuse the system for the mid-term elections of 2006, nor did they manipulate it for John McCain and Sarah Palin. In fact, it hasn't really changed since August, 2005, suggesting that once the Bush Administration got what they wanted, the ruse was abandoned.
