Hypothetically, if you were convinced that the masses have become too stupid to remember who actually got us into this mess and falls for the BS that the teabaggers and rightwingers are shoveling, what would you do to lessen the pain to you and your family when they regain power?

1. I can't think that. I do see stupid people, but I also see thinking
people; they keep me going.

2. The 'masses' don't vote
Usually about half the eligible population...and far less at midterms

6. Meh, I'd rather rely on my vegetable garden and chicken coop
Can, freeze and dry what we don't eat immediately, trade with others at the farmer's markets, and supplement with what I hunt and fish for every year. On food at least, I'm more than ready.

10. Do you grow your own grains?
That seems to be the weak point in the local food movement in many places. There is also the issue of local sources of energy; at least where I live, we have to heat our houses.

5. This isn't something everyone is able to do, but,
I am going to move to Europe. And soon.
It isn't just that the USA is moving further to the right, I believe the empire is falling. I don't believe that Democrats will be able to keep the empire from crumbling. I'm sorry to sound so pessimistic, but I'm like a rat leaving the sinking ship.

8. I came back last year
And I can see myself leaving again. I'll admit, Obama's inauguration and the first time homebuyer incentive got me to return. But after having been back going on 18 months, this country is a looney bin and you can live a much better lifestyle elsewhere. Even in countries that rank 40, 50, even 85 on the Human Development Index.

admit I think the empire is crumbling, BS about the recession over or not. The attitude of many in this country is damn strange IMO. I haven't changed, the country has... If the R's are back in again I think this place is going to fly apart.

15. You have good eyes
The empire is falling and as much as I want to believe they'll do it with grace and dignity, America has little of either.

11. I can't see myself leaving for a while yet,
since I'm transferring to a 4 year university soon and have 3 yrs of school left. I want to move to Europe eventually though. I'm really tired of all the religious fundamentalism and general insanity I see in so many people here.

12. Hopefully the shooting will start soon
Otherwise I am planning to leave in a couple years. If the sane patriots have decided to fight back, I will gladly join in. If we're still living in Foxland, I am planning to go to Canada.

14. This is a midterm
The masses, stupid or not, don't vote. This year isn't going to change the make up of the House or the Senate, as much as the Democrats seem to want it to (they seem hell bent on destroying themselves but just don't have the drive that the Republicans do to destroy themselves).

That said, these last two years have been eye opening. When I had an obvious enemy in charge, I could ignore the nagging feeling that they were just keeping my attention away from the actual people who run this country. Now that "my side" is "in power", I'm seeing things I wish I could unsee. Neither the Democrats nor the Republicans actually run this country.

16. For starters, they can't actually pass any legislation
The President would veto it. All they can do is to stop progress, and as we've seen from today's Senate votes, they already have enough to do that.

The silver lining of November is that our true progressives are much more likely than not to be safe, what we lose are DINO's and Blue Dogs. We run true progressives in the same fashion that the tea partiers used to get their candidates on the ballot, and we give people the choice to let the grown-ups come back when the President is at the top of the ticket.

those ignorant fucks are easy pickin's for liars poker and three card monte.

And, I have an impressive stockpile of toilet paper. No shelf life, used by everyone, can be traded for almost anything.

Thinking about laying in a thousand cases of booze. For anesthetic purposes.
