The so-called arm bending and phone calls didn't work. Do the right thing.

it's that the excuses are endless.

5. K&R. Rachel's interview with Biden clearly showed that they
were expecting a few Repukes to vote with them before they pulled the old "Mongolian reversal" with today's vote!

This is in Congress' hands. The President is not going to act before the vote.

19. He can't.
DADT is a law passed by Congress.

He can make it more difficult to kick them out, but he can't stop it.

28. You are correct. An EO doesn't suspend a statute.
Gates slowed the inquiry phase, but the discharges will continue until repeal.

That's why the Serviceperson's Legal Defense Network supports repeal.

29. Bullshit,
He can use an EO to suspend DADT under the rubric of stop loss. Biden has already admitted that this is a doable proposition, so who do you think is more believable, some anonymous internet poster, or the Vice President.

30. An EO won't stand. It will take the DC Circuit about 15 minutes
to strike that EO. And that is not the issue you want in front of SCOTUS. Because it won't get Youngstown protections.

25. It takes courage & leadership to do the right thing.
Sadly, everyone in the Obama administration is terrified of republicans. Obama could sign an EO in less than five seconds to stop the loss of good soldiers but wont do it. He doesn't want to upset or hurt the feelings of republicans. Every big issue Obama talked about during the campaign he has either completely abandoned or he has allowed a handful of republicans to water down every piece of legislation. That is NOT leadership. Obama said he doesn't want to give the keys to the car the republicans wrecked back to them, but he never even began to drive the car himself and keeps taking all of his directions from the drunken republicans in the back seat.
