Now way the GOP could win in 2012, right?
You know, I am getting very tired of people assuming we have 2012 locked down. I lot of people see the Tea party on the ascent, and they cheer, as “no one would be dumb enough to vote for so and so.” Folks, as much as logic would seem to indicate that would be so, please do not forget one thing; the media is against us, even a lot of so called “liberal” media, like Tweety Matthews. The GOP could put up a complete imbecile, and there will be tons of Media people who will praise that imbecile until that person is a god. In this modern age of “journalism”, it is not a matter of what is true or false anymore; such banalities are for comedians to argue about, not people who are paid to manipulate people. I wish the last comment was a joke, but the comedians need to have people think to get a laugh, while the modern journalist needs to prevent people from thinking. Yes, the GOP is a mess, but sadly, like that annoying family of in laws that makes you dread the Holiday season, for all the backstabbing, bitching, moaning and angst, they will get right together if they think there is money to be made or pride to be fed, and sadly, there is both.

I also understand that many liberals are angry. Yes, Obama ran to the left, but allowed himself to adapt the worst aspects of the Clinton era, without the virtue of being an in your face asshole that does not care how much people hate him (The one Clinton Virtue.) Still, if the people on the far left want to get results, they need to realize that throwing Obama out will not get them what they want. If we had a third party that had enough Governors, Congresspeople, etc, to mount a challenge, it would be on thing, but right now, all a third party challenge in 2012 would do is give the GOP the advantage. Take this from a Florida Democrat that had to deal with GOP types blowing cigar smoke around him as they high-fived each other, bragging that the money they gave to Ralph Nader was a better investment than directly giving it to the GOP. They did it in person, on television, on the papers and the radio. Yes, you may say “IF bush was so assertive during his presidency, why can't we be like that. Yes, Obama has failed to seize the moment, but there is also one thing forgotten; Bush was only as effective as he was because he had almost no opposition from Congress, the Media, or even many of our Democrats. Sadly, many of the Senators had no intention to oppose Bush, even people who should have known better, like Hillary Clinton herself, gave Bush what he wanted way too many times (Iraq being the most flagrant example.) Yes, I realize people have used the old “do ya want president palin” line to silence dissent. No, I do not want people to lessen pressure on BHO (if nothing else, fire Geitner and Rahm already), but that does nto mean we can ignore the fact that if we do not keep the GOP out of the Oval Office, they will use the chance to do a lot of damage, because, they will have the wind of the media at their back.

1. Anything is possible, including President Palin and Vice President O'Donnell n/t
I prefer to concentrate on the midterms.

We have waves of progressives that think that mounting a primary challenge could (a) get Obama Replaced on the ticket; and (b) win. History shows us that primary challenges are rarely successful and in the case of Johnson, Ford, and Carter led to the party involved in the primary to lose the Presidency.

And, really, I don't think Palin will win the nomination.

2. Then why didn't that happen with McCain?
The GOP could put up a complete imbecile, and there will be tons of Media people who will praise that imbecile until that person is a god.

3. They tried
And in the case of Palin, succeeded. The only saving grace was that the economy tanked before the media could figure out how to draw people's minds off it. The Tea party has solved THAT problem. McCain was also not cooperating with his GOP handlers as much, something Palin explained and got much mileage from.
