Paladino Within Striking Distance of Cuomo

A new Quinnipiac poll in New York finds Andrew Cuomo (D) leading Carl Paladino (R) by just six points among likely voters in the race for governor, 49% to 43%.

Said pollster Maurice Carroll: "The question was whether Carl Paladino would get a bounce from his big Republican primary victory. The answer is yes. He's within shouting distance and -- you can count on it -- he will be shouting. Andrew Cuomo might be a victim of his own excess. Politicians and polls have depicted him so relentlessly as a sure thing that he might be a victim of the 'throw the bums out' attitude that hits incumbents in this angry year."

2. Time to release the hounds (Paladino's bestiality emails).
Not literally . . . hounds don't do porn, I don't think . . . maybe Paladino would know.

3. Cuomo a potential "victim of his own excess"? How?
He's been a good attorney general for the State of New York. He hasn't said or demonstrated arrogance. If anything, he shows discretion and confidence. If the voters prefer neurosis over competence, well, there's no hope for them.

4. Wow. What a nasty little sting of bias from the pollster.
It sounds like somebody at Quinnipiac has a bone to pick and has commenced picking it.

I hope Andrew Cuomo beats this guy pretty bad from Buffalo to Montauk.

Paladino is a thuggish crazyass.

5. I have to take back what I've been saying.
I thought Paladino had handed the keys to the governor's mansion to Cuomo. I (and my colleagues in the state party leadership) said, "nobody that crazy can get elected in NY. Can't happen." OK, serve up my humble pie with a side of crow.

The world's gone barking mad.

6. I'm sure Cuomo won't be complacent
He remembers his dad being swept out in the 1994 wave.
