"Yoga can be dangerous to Christians' faith"
so sayeth Louisville's Southern Baptist Seminary president, Albert Mohler.

www.courier-journal.com/article/20100921/FEATURES10/309210079/1008/NEWS01/Yoga+can+be+dangerous+to+Christians++faith++says+Louisville+s+Southern+Baptist+Seminary+President

This would be amusing, except that Mohler is quite influential and will probably start a move to run yoga classes out of churches.
:banghead:  :wow:

2. I've seen churches offer "Christian yoga" or "Christian flexibility classes" so people don't get
freaked out by the whole mental/spiritual side of yoga. Quite a few churches frown on it because they see it as a spiritual movement.

24. Oh, my. That's right. I must have blocked that out of my memory.
I used to have such a crush on Janine Turner when she was on Northern Exposure so it was a shock to see she's come to this. Far right wing nutter too if I remember right.

And seriously, what's with the hair? Is there some kind of religious covenant that requires people selling stuff to Christians to get their hair molded into helmets and infused with plastic?

25. Prolly spent too much time out in those woods and got Northern Overexposed
As for the hair, every Christian Crusader needs a good, strong helmet to do battle with violent heathen meditators. :)

They had to change the name.

3. Yes, because there's nothing that makes Baby Jesus cry more than Downward Dog . . . .
Unless, of course, it's being able to touch your toes while standing.

16. See, even talking about Yoga leads to impure thoughts.
It certainly shouldn't be allowed near any schools or churches or other places where young people might hear about it.

Wonder if there's an "Easter Morning" pose leading to levitation.

21. Oh come on!
Crucifixion jokes?? You really wouldn't think that was all that funny if you had been there.

And just for the record, neither I or My Dad have anything against yoga. Or yogurt. Or Yoda, for that matter.

8. I had a doctor tell me that yoga is a cult.
I used to do a lot of yoga and I was really surprised that someone actually believed something like that. He was an allergist.

18. If it was decent for decent people, it wouldn't have a dirty-sounding
foreign name like that. Tie what? I mean, I've heard about the handcuffs and ballgags and things some innocent people get led into.

29. Wow. Christian faith sure is a fragile thing
Everything seems to be a danger to it -- books, movies, yoga, same-sex marriage, not having HUGE ten commandment monuments in public places, saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas", etc., etc., etc.

they had him believing there was something eeeeeeeeeevvvviiiilllllll about transcendental meditation. Suddenly, to my father, one of my uncles became a devil worshipper. It was truly bizarre.
