Senator Lincoln release on why she supports DREAM and repeal of DADT, but voted 'no' on MTP.
http://lincoln.senate.gov/newsroom/2010-9-21-1.cfm

“Today, I filed eight amendments to improve services and benefits for Arkansas’s veterans, Guardsman and Reservists. But, under the process and time-frame established by this motion, none of my amendments would have merited consideration this week.

“I am a cosponsor of the DREAM Act, and have stated that I will support the Lieberman compromise, which would repeal the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy when our military commanders say it is appropriate for our military readiness and national security. However, these important issues were taken hostage today to an election year political agenda at the expense of full and open debate on a $726 billion defense spending bill."

1. So Blanch held the Dream Act and repeal of DADT hostage because
she couldn't offer amendments?

Fuck off Blanch!

2. Doesn't matter Blanche
You're going to lose.

Sometimes you don't get everything you want. Most of us have learned that.

Making the perfect the enemy of the good helps no one.

5. So, in other words, Blanche. . .you chose to damage gay Arkansasans
who want to serve their country in order to increase benefits for people who already have served the country, knowing full well that the policies of this government for years was to deny any gay veterans any benefits at all.

11. I think she's polling somewhere south of 30%
So, yeah, the White House-backed candidate is going to lose her race. I don't know if Bill Halter (her primary opponent, who lost mostly due to administration interference in the race) would win, but I'd bet cash money he'd be polling better than Blanche Lincoln is right now.

What a waste of a Senate seat. You can bet the Republicans will make sure that Boozman doesn't stray from the party line.

9. Translation: "I'm losing my election, I needed political hay to boast about, and Reid said no."
In other words, she compromised both our national security and other peoples' civil rights for the sake of her own re-election bid.

Is there ever going to be a time when the government can serve the people, instead of the other way around?

EVER?

12. She should blanch to see the consequences of her 'no' vote.
Her loss won't be all that much a loss for the Dems, not unless they lose control of the Senate because of it.

16. She is trying to have her cake and eat it, too. Vote like a Dem if you claim to be a Dem.
Swutch parties if you want to vote like a Republican. But wait! She could not make it through a GOP primary.

18. Her vote didn't matter so she chose to vote with the bigots and you don't understand the dog-pile?
Edited on Wed Sep-22-10 03:01 PM by truebrit71
Really? :wtf:

In that scenario she should have voted AGAINST the bigots knowing that it wouldn't pass anyway and give her cover from both sides. Instead this despicable, wretched and pathetic excuse for a Democrat in the most cowardly and craven manner, tried to appease the knuckle-dragging bigots and homophobes she has in her state by voting against the bill in a desperate attempt to get their approval. The obvious irony is that even if she had said, from the floor of the U.S. Senate, at the top of her lungs, that she hated all fags, especially the ones in uniform, she STILL won't get re-elected this fall becuase she has a (D) as a party affiliation.

She makes me ill and the party will be better for her abscence.
