The Richest Members of the US Congress 2010 (Roll Call via CNBC slideshow)
DUers that are US citizens, "small people" etc. (like yours truly) might be interested in this report. Take note of the criteria/instruments used in compiling this list and who was eliminated from it. Comments are encouraged.

2. It is the wealthy who run this country -
this is no surprise. The children of CEO's and politicians go to the same private schools and live in the same prestigious neighborhoods. It's been this way a long time. Deluding ourselves that we have any power in that realm is crazy. The only power for us is in our solidarity - there are more of us (the poor/the workers) than them.

3. Don't take this personally, but I hate "Slide Show" lists.
It takes forever to go through them.
I don't need pictures. I want names!

9. An awful lot of (D)s in there. And they're not afraid of paying more taxes.

4. What? No billionaires yet?
I guess the real paymasters are far to busy to actually 'run' their country. Better to just pay pennies on the dollar for a Senator or a few House bots. More time to ride around in that new megayacht! One for each month!

6. so really their report is kinda useless
relying as it does on categories of minimum. Herb Kohl shows up as one of the poorest when he is really one of the richest. I was kinda surprised too because $19 million for the 15th richest member of Congress does not seem very rich.

8. The numbers they are using are bullshit.
Issa, Kerry and Rockefeller are all far wealthier than 19M.

10. actually, Kerry's finances are completely separate from Teresa's, and always have been
Edited on Wed Sep-22-10 02:00 PM by blm
but, that never stops these skewed stories using HER wealth. Stories which are always put out before election day to fuel the perception that Dems represent the privileged and financial elite instead of the REAL watercarriers for the elite....the GOP.

14. Yes, I stand corrected.
That's actually very true. But Issa's money - he grabbed all that himself when nobody was looking. ;)

12. well, for starters I didn't see Dennis the K on that list
Edited on Wed Sep-22-10 02:22 PM by Capn Sunshine
196-352k by recent estimates. This certainly is an argument for Dennis' integrity, that he's not a millionaire even though he's been a politician since age 21.
