The new Rethuglican Contract on America - Have you read it yet?
Rachel has it on her blog. Appearantly 'leaked' out.

http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2010/09/22/5158637-group-read-house-gops-pledge-to-america

"America is more than a country," the House Republicans' new manifesto begins. "A Pledge to America" continues for another 21 pages, which we're just now reading.

Republican members of Congress plan to unveil the Pledge tomorrow morning. You can read it now with us here (pdf). As you find great bits, hit the comments, please.

A starter, on page 11: "End TARP Once And For All: Americans are rightly outraged at the bailouts of businesses and entities that force responsible taxpayers to subsidize irresponsible behavior. We will cancel the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), a move that would save taxpayers roughly $16 billion."

You'll recall that TARP was a Republican program.

(end snip)

Fear, Baby, Fear

5. Umm
Actually Tarp was an effort a bipartisan effort with more democrats voting for it than republicans. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/02/house-bailout-vote-encore_n_131222.html

The vote to actually release the funding was split on party lines, and yes our leadership supported it: http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2009/01/15/4425172-breaking-down-the-tarp-vote

6. Well, they're now differentiating between "Republican" and "Conservative"
They realize that almost everything the Bush administration did was indefensible, so they're now saying that things like TARP were not "conservative" programs that America craves, but instituted by misguided "republicans" who are no longer speaking for the party... or some such horseshit.
