Sexy Snapshots Of Bishop Eddie Long Sent To His Young Boyfriends

This situation is looking worse and worse for Bishop Eddie Long who was accused by two of his young male congregants of inappropriate sexual behavior as reported in our post Six Recent Sex Scandals With Black Ministers You May Not Know About And Why Blacks Don’t Report Clergy Sex Abuse. http://renwl.org/community/six-recent-sex-scandals-with-black-ministers-you-may-not-know-about-and-why-blacks-dont-report-clergy-sex-abuse

Now ABC News reveals photos of the black Bishop in which he’s posing in a muscle shirt and workout attire taking pictures of himself in his bathroom. ABC says these are among photos the young men say were sent to them by Long.

Long, a married father of four, is known as a fierce opponent of gay rights and same-sex marriage and led a march against marriage equality rights from the site of Dr. Martin Luther King’s grave site years ago. According to The Daily Voice, at least one prominent political official, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Roy Barnes, has reportedly canceled a fundraising event scheduled to take place with Long.

Check out this ABC News report giving more detailed info about the allegations:

14. LOL!
Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George was taking so called 'sexy photos' of himself to have developed to attract some woman working at the photo-hut (George's photos weren't too fetching either lol)

4. He was scheduled to hold an interview to respond to the charges, but I see he cancelled
Edited on Thu Sep-23-10 08:05 AM by old mark
after a third young man came forward and filed charges against him. He cancelled "on the advice of his lawyer". I think we may see several more charges filed against him in the next week or so.

12. what's cryable is that I've seen this story play out too many times
The good reverend will beg for forgiveness, tout his works for the community, weather out the storm, and his "flock" along with his political/business partners will defend him to the death...A few years from now he'll be making more $$$$ than ever and no one will care to remember this scandal...

6. Bishop Long: Charges against me are false
Bishop Long: Charges against me are false

In a statement read on a radio show Thursday, Atlanta pastor Eddie Long said he was anxious to respond to allegations contained in lawsuits that he had coerced young church members into sex, but his lawyers would not permit him.

"I have been through storms and my faith has always sustained me," Long said in a statement read by attorney Craig Gillen. "... Let me be clear: the charges against me and New Birth are false. I have devoted my life to helping others, and these false allegations hurt me deeply, but my faith is strong and the truth will emerge."

Long said he denies "each and every one of these ugly charges" and will respond to his congregation on Sunday.

7. Ted Haggard says he can empathize with Bishop Eddie Long
Edited on Thu Sep-23-10 08:33 AM by Ian David
By Larry Hartstein

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Ted Haggard, who lost his megachurch after admitting to a relationship with a male prostitute, told TV's Inside Edition that he can empathize with what Bishop Eddie Long is going through.

"I think he's heartbroken, I think he's confused," Haggard said on the program Wednesday. "I'll tell you how I felt. I felt like I'd ruined my life."

<snip>

Haggard confessed to "sexual immorality" involving the prostitute, and admitted an "inappropriate relationship" with the volunteer, who was 22 when it began.

10. kickety
funny how many of the religious homophobes are self-hating closeted homosexuals. maybe their religious beliefs are the problem, not the solution. they certainly aren't the "cure" since we don't expect heterosexuals to "cure" themselves of their sexuality.

13. Eddie Long Case Proves Religion is Almost the Perfect Cover for Sex
Edited on Thu Sep-23-10 10:04 AM by Ian David
Eddie Long Case Proves Religion is Almost the Perfect Cover for Sex

It reads like a fantastical Hollywood movie. An extremely popular black Atlanta televangelist who frequently condemns homosexuals to an eternity in Hell. Now he is accused by - so far - three men who as boys he slowly gained their trust and then coerced into extended sexual relationships. He made up special programs or groups, such as "Spiritual Sons," and hand-picked handsome boys to participate in the program.

Sponsored by his many followers in Atlanta and around the world he wined, dined and traveled in the very best of style, and took his spiritual sons with him. They describe a slow, progressive building of trust that eventually resulted in sex on many occasions. The only thing Eddie Long may not have planned for was when he had to release the old and take in the new.

People often get grumpy when dumped and this may be part of the Eddie Long story. This story coupled with the Pope having to meet with several of the thousands of adults who were sexually abused by priests could cause you to look a little harder in the face of the Reverend, Father, Bishop and wonder is this person for real or just a fantastic actor? There's a lot of acting talent in the world and it's not only limited to Hollywood and Bollywood.

Religion is an ideal cover for sexual conquests because almost everyone you come in contact with respects you without question and "could never imagine" such a thing happening in their community. We are sure Eddie Long, if guilty, is only one of many giving Academy Award performances. Many non-predator people who would love to work with children and be openly gay but cannot get hired because of being gay, are instead replaced by people pretending to condemn homosexuality while practicing it with minors under cover. Did you expect anything different? We didn't.

15. Bishop Eddie Long | ‘Not in hiding;' tweets appreciation for support
Since the lawsuits alleging he coerced males into sexual activities were first filed Tuesday, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church pastor Bishop Eddie Long has maintained a very low public profile.

New Birth spokesman Art Franklin told the AJC on Thursday afternoon that Long is not in hiding. He said those who think he is "will have a new perspective after Sunday," referring to Long's scheduled appearance at the church.

DeKalb school board member Eugene P. Walker, a longtime friend of Long's, said he has no problem with the silence from the Bishop.

"The less said the better," said Walker, a former state senator and state commissioner of juvenile justice. "This needs to be dealt with in the appropriate forum, not the media."

Long has scheduled and canceled at least one news conference. He also canceled an announced interview on a nationally broadcast radio show Thursday morning.
