Thank you Rupert, your desire to create an information pay-wall has meant that your online news-sites have disappeared from blog sites. No one is talking about the product you are selling. Those sites may generate you revenue but a man like you needs more than the revenue. If no one is talking about what you sell, then your product no longer carries power.
The dead tree press and the tv news media are losing their relevance. They are still powerful but that power is reducing on a weekly, if not daily basis. When no-one talks about your gossip sites, you lose the ability to make or break a government.
You have also made the largest non news news service even better. Google News is now everyone but the Murdoch Press. What a good way to get your news.
