The difference between Democrats and Republicans..

In the fall of 2002 with the mid term elections coming up.. Many in congress ( especially democrats) wanted to push off having to vote to give Bush the power to go into Iraq until after the mid term.. Of course there was NO WAY the republicans would do that.. They wanted to have the vote using the upcoming mid terms as gun pointed at any who voted against the war powers act calling them traitors/cowards, etc.. They knew that if they waited until after the election Bush might very well have NOT gotten his war he wanted so bad..

fast forward to 2010..

In the fall of 2010 with mid term elections coming up.. Many in congress ( especially republicans ) wanted to push off having to vote to re-authorize the Bush tax cuts of 2001/2003 until after the mid term. They do not want be seen as voting down middle class tax cuts to make sure those in the top 2.5% get their as well.. Of course the democrats agreed and put the vote off until after the election taking all the pressure of the republicans..

Morale the republicans have brass balls and the democrats have none.

3. There is merit to your post. Republicans are pragmatic and will do what is needed to win.
Democrats tend to be naively idealistic, believing that is all that is needed. Republicans laugh at that concept and understand that winning is what it is all about and they will do what is needed to attain their goals.

Yes, they will take all the compromise and bipartisanship they can get without giving any themselves and in the end they will use it to screw the Democrats who will look befuddled and confused over what happened.

5. Unfortunately, there's a number of conservative Dems who adhere to the prior
every bit as much as the Republicans. On the up side though, I am glad that Grayson is having such a great campaign. Running on a pure Liberal platform, and up 13 over his GOP rival. Perhaps this will send a message to all but the most obtuse Conservative Dems.

4. What I see that is the difference between Democrats and Republicans and what defines them:
Democrats are about people, and helping people. A simple concept.

Republicans are about money--getting as much as possible, keeping as much as possible and resenting when any of it is used to help people, resenting when anyone gets any money they believe they deserve more. Despite their assertions that this is a Christian nation, money is their god and it is money that they serve.

6. A blue dog & a republican face off in an alley
The republican whips out a big knife, whereupon the blue dog starts trying to be bipartisan & offers to go along with the republican's agenda, in exchange for his life.. The republican agrees & they walk back to the doorway..the republican plunges the knife into the blue dog's back.

the blue dog spins around, facing his backstabber.

He last earthly act? Offering his hankie & apologizing for getting blood on that shiny knife.
