Smart or cowardly? The decision not to bring the tax cut repeal to a vote before the midterms. |
|
A case can be made for both.
What do you think?

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9190291Methinks the problem lies with some corporate right Democrats don't want to be put on the record here. Neither smart, nor necessarily cowardly, but craven.

The lowest bracket will increase to 15% and the standard deduction will be lower.
That is an increase for every taxpayer.

they are missing an opportunity to show that democrats defend the middle and working class over the wealthy. Delaying it reminds many of us that that isn't completely true and increases the odds that those on the left will be discouraged and not turn up to vote. Many will think why bother? It's a bad message to send this close to the election.
Still can't they just let them expire?

9. If the plan is simply to let them , they should say that. Instead, they're just wussing out |
|
Letting them expire is not an impossible position to defend. Doing nothing is easy to see/spin as just plain cowardly.
