A case can be made for both.

What do you think?

3. I think Kurt & Hunter's post nailed it spot on
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x9190291

Methinks the problem lies with some corporate right Democrats don't want to be put on the record here.

Neither smart, nor necessarily cowardly, but craven.

11. I'm not
The lowest bracket will increase to 15% and the standard deduction will be lower.

That is an increase for every taxpayer.

6. it's weak
they are missing an opportunity to show that democrats defend the middle and working class over the wealthy. Delaying it reminds many of us that that isn't completely true and increases the odds that those on the left will be discouraged and not turn up to vote. Many will think why bother? It's a bad message to send this close to the election.

Still can't they just let them expire?

9. If the plan is simply to let them , they should say that. Instead, they're just wussing out
Letting them expire is not an impossible position to defend. Doing nothing is easy to see/spin as just plain cowardly.

10. They fear the reaction to a vote that extends tax cuts for billionaires
before the election.

21. It's a bold display of what the Demcratic Party stands for...maybe and some day.
When there's enough dry powder and when they have 600 votes in the house and 150 votes in the senate and the Republicans approve.
