Former Vice President Al Gore is scheduled to attend a campaign rally held by U.S. Senate hopeful Democrat Kendrick Meek next week.

Gore is slated to appear with Meek at Letter Carriers Hall in Tampa on Sept. 30 in an effort to solidify the Democratic base, and try to chip away at support for independent candidate Gov. Charlie Crist near his home base of St. Petersburg.

Vice President Joe Biden is also expected to appear with Meek at a Hollywood fundraiser for the Florida Democtratic Party Friday, according to the Palm Beach Post.

Meek is running against Crist and Republican candidate Marco Rubio in the Nov. 2 general election.

1. If Al Gore, of all people, can go to Florida to stump for this guy
Then why isn't there more support for him? If any Democrat is justified never lifting a finger for the state of Florida, it would be the actually elected 43rd President of the United States.

2. I hope Crist drops out soon

Meek and Crist are splitting the dem votes. I think many dems initially gravitated to Crist because
they thought he had a better chance to beat Rubio. Meek is slowing pulling some support away
from Crist now. Crist is toast and he should bow out.
