Dow Chemical CEO: My R&D goes where the manufacturing goes. |

Edited on Thu Sep-23-10 08:06 PM by dkf
I need the educational resources where my R&D is. Everything moves to where the manufacturing is done. After a certain amount of time and with a certain amount of scale, the process is irreversible.
So says the speaker at the Clinton Global Inititiative.
This is a warning to us that all levels of jobs will be moved if the manufacturing leaves. And if the Chinese are educating their students to a higher level than Americans and they can provide all levels of labor at lower prices...yikes.

That horse is so far out of the barn, you need a telescope to see his ass on the horizon!

2. Yet we think we can keep all the r&d here and do the manufacturing there |

When the reality is eventually it is more efficient to keep the two parts closer. Early on China didn't necessarily have the education but they have moved so far so fast that they will outclass us soon. Their people are hard workers too.
