Mike Castle will test waters with poll... May run as a write in
Will he or won't he? Does this put the race back in play? If he does, does it give Christine O’Donnell a chance? What would it mean if Castle does win for the tea party?

Rep. Mike Castle is planning on polling a potential three-way Senate race to test his chances as a write-in candidate, a Delaware Republican tells POLITICO.

Castle, who lost his GOP primary by a 6-point margin to tea party upstart Christine O’Donnell nine days ago, opened the door to a potential write-in bid Wednesday evening when he told reporters off the House floor it was still a possibility he was considering.

2. It wouldn't
The last Senator to actually win a write in; if I am not mistaken, was Strom Thurmond back in the 50s. Castle would take more votes from O'Donnell.

4. Didn't Lieberman win as a write-in?
Or was he a third party on the ballot?

14. Wasn't it named the Lieberman party?
And didn't it get taken over by us after the election?

3. Castle is most likely to hurt O'Donnell with a write in...
They will both lose.

5. I am not as sure
He is popular. All I know, is that if he does this, this will change a race that I thought was in the bag. It may still be, but it does change things.

9. He is going to attract Republicans who think O'Donnell is a flake.
and some Democrats, most likely a tossup. Unless he runs awefully well, he will not make that big an impact.

8. Castle could win as he is a better fit for Delaware than either of the other two candidates.
O'Donnell is nuts and a professional race loser.

Coons is good on the issues, but doesn't have a lot of experience in state or national politics. He is also a little more to the left than Delaware.

Castle is a well known public figure and could do what Crist can't in Florida, pull enough of the center leaning R's & D's, along with I's to squeak out a win at 36% to 32% to 29%.

12. Doubtful. O'Donnell will probably only get the same number of voters she
had in the primary, and the rest of the Republican voters and independents who might have voted for her, will vote for Castle.

13. I know. I doubt the nuts won't vote for her. Castle takes votes from Coons, I think. NT
