Serious question. Is there anyway we can force Congress to vote on this tax issue? |
|
Before the election? So we know where people stand. Do we have enough numbers and anger to force them to deal with the issues. Crap, if handfuls of 'baggers can turn the nation upside down, what could we do?

1. We can contact our Senators, |
|
We can contact Reid and the WH. But frankly, even though I already did those things last night, I'm afraid the die is cast and the Dems are going to slink away to vote another day.

WHY? No reason for them not to vote on it now.

3. They've already made up their minds IMO. As you say, "Dems are going to slink away |
|
to vote another day." I don't get it... I just don't get these dems in congress. The blue dogs think I's and R's are voting for them... they are so misguided. The dem base gets pissed off at them. The R's never would have voted for them. And the I's see them as weak and ineffective, so they vote R.
All makes a lot of sense, working hard to lose an election, I think.

4. So we just throw up our hands and let it go? |

'baggers would be hauling misspelled signs to the nearest streetcorner, after locating their Revolutionary era clothing.

we have dems as leaders that are completely weak and ineffective. I would rather have a politician stand up and shout/support our principles and lose than slink away and hide. IMO that's we we get today out of some of the democrats in congress. I wish the hell they would just go join the republicans. I'm F'en fed up with them!

But it's very important that we re-elect the same crappy Democrats or the Republicans win - and we can't have that. So on Nov 2, everyone go out and tell them "you don't have to represent us, just be better than the alternative you have our vote".
The primaries is where it should have happened. A left equivalent of the tea party could have said we aren't happy with the "mainstream" Dem and we'll pick a "radical" even if their chance at the general election is worse. But that didn't happen, so the choice is to let the Rs win or stay with what we have and wait 2 years to make a statement (or not make a statement then either because the alternative is worse). I hope that eventually enough people will realize that the "better alternative" is not representing us and then we can elect a real alternative.

to vote D because of what the alternative is... This really really pissed me off, and I'm a moderate, well, that is until the D party kept pushing to the right to appease R's that I got moved apparently to the left.
I would LOVE to see a whole new lineup of D's to vote for... I'm really fed up with a lot of these congressmen that call themselves democrats. They are just in it for themselves IMO. And the democrats are suckers enough to vote them in during primaries.
