4. A crummy summer growing season has substantially reduced the wild food supply.
Hence, bears are seeking alternative sources of food. It's sad; there has been a significant increase in the number of bears killed by wildlife officials (due to dangerous interactions with humans) compared to years past.

5. it's interesting -- the forest officer commenting it may not have been an attack.
then why, little bear -- did you mess with that really big cow?

any way his comments were interesting -- and i'm glad it worked out.
i can't watch animals get hurt.

7. Really small bear -- maybe he was just curious?
Or he was practicing charging. I've watched a very young grizzly practice charging at elk in Wyoming. The elk just moved gracefully out of the way. The grizzly eventually got tired and just rolled over on his back and went to sleep.

8. Yeah - he was really small.
Hard for me to think he was too serious.

9. If he's young, then he's trying things out on his own, what works and what
doesn't...apparently this didn't work out for him/her
