Republicans "govern" with platitudes and slogans...
Edited on Sat Sep-25-10 09:00 AM by kentuck
Government can never be too small. In fact, most Republicans believe no government at all would be better than the government we now have. It is no wonder they suck at governing.

The "pledge to America" is another one of their gimmicky slogans, meant to deceive enough weak-minded people to put them back into power. You would think people would learn but they never do. There's a sucker born every minute.

The devil is always in the details with Republican plans. They want to "balance the budget" but they never do. They always increase the deficits and the national debt. Always. And it will always be so long as they cling to their fantasy philosophies of supply-side and Reaganomics. The rich will always get richer and the poor will get poorer.

They say they want "smaller" government but government always grows larger under the Republicans. When Clinton and Gore actually reduced "government", Bush and the Repubs grew it dramatically. They fought like cats and dogs amongst themselves to see who could get the most government largesse for their districts. For example, Alaska led the nation in government handouts.

Republicans hate government. Only a fool would think they wuld be good at "governing". The Party of "family values", smaller government, "morning in America", "Contract on America" now have a new slogan, "Pledge to America". Their pledge is to put the screws to the working and middle-class once again. Beware of Republicans bearing platitudes.

1. Their new "Plague to America" is just more of the same...
...tax cuts for the wealthiest, service cuts to the neediest.

3. They Only Campaign...Incabable Of Governing
To be an effective governing party, one must be able to show the ability to assume and accept responsibility for their actions. It's to be able to build coalitions and bring people together and enact legislation that serves the most people, not the special interests. Thus the rushpublican game is to lie, distort and confuse...to "govern" by soundbites and memes that mask what's really going on. When forced to govern, the GOTB will always go for the special interests with no consideration of the long term reprocussions of their actions...and if they're lucky (like they are now) they can palm off their disasters on the Democrats...who are more than happy to angst over them.

4. As long as Americans remain the stupidest people on earth, republican lies will succeed.
I am simply stunned by the overwhelming idiocy and total cluelessness of a very high percentage of our citizens. Is there another country with such conspicuously uninformed citizens? I'd like to know which one.

In a July poll, 26% of Americans had no idea who we declared independence from in 1776. (Many guessed China.)

There was a report on NPR just now addressing the "unpopularity" of the new healthcare law. It seems that 50% of the public thinks it will cause their taxes to go up; actually, they will go down. 25% think there are "death panels" in the law; there are not - this is a lie made up (for profit) by $arah Palin. Most of the people who oppose this law do so on the basis of false information received from right-wing liars like Palin, Beck, Hannity and the rest of the Fox "News" jerks. These people seem like un-American traitors to me.

As long as so many American citizens remain in an information-free zone, believing only the lies of republican demagogues, shills, and charlatans, this country will remain exactly where we are today:

STUCK ON STUPID!

5. republicans lie. they LOVE government, and the bigger the better
just so long as they're in control.

they love the power to tax the rich (i.e., themselves) lower and push the tax burden more to the rest of us, then borrow to make up the difference.

they love being able to spend brazillions of dollars on, well, who cares, just so long as big businesses are winning the no-bid contracts.

they love lawyers and the court system because that helps them enforce their property rights and smack down competitors.

and they love spreading the "we hate government" meme to make people think they've got any principles beyond being greedy bastards trying to steal your money.

6. All they care about is the great pension they will get
I've come to the conclusion that they get into politics for ego gratification, the good health benefits and a great pension. Their interest is strictly to enrich themselves. It sounds crass but for many I think it's true!

7. KnR :o) ....Well said...The GOPers are Masters of Deception and Distraction

On the National level...Pubs Suck...

Thas why they try to keep politics LOCAL...the one on one thingy..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dj7oHvYdyD0&NR=1

Dems are mostly Happy People, aware of whats happening, and will help others, empathy and kindness are in their realm..

GOPers :::: 2 groups

Dominators and the Dominated....Exploitors and the Exploited

Excessive greed

Devious

Self centered

Vain

Myopic

Ignorant

Cunning

Divisive

Bullies

Pretentious

They refuse to Solve, instead provoke with contentious shit designed to divide

As much as possible , They keep all discussions to the moot/minutiae Level where polar opposites clash

They thrive on clashing at the local level...using the Negative Polarity...to split the focus toward band aid compromises...

Big solutions answers for the Nation go to the backburner while we discuss murders in Arruba, etc for 2 years.

They are HATERS and TORMENTORS

We have the op to minimize the GOP by attacking them as a GROUP ala Rachel Maddow....their plans for America are truly frightening

The Political Scene Investigation Division has reviewed the GOPers Pol History and found them Lacking and Lame in terms of National Performance.

This is the YEAR....Lets do it...VOTE BLUE
