1. Wisecrack that made me LOL yesterday...
From the Jalopnik website (geared to car nuts, lousy pun intended):

"...(he) learned a valuable lesson about the human race: namely, that we might be better off nuking the whole lot and starting over again with something that's not based on monkeys."

2. Nuking the whole lot sounds good, but...
I still think starting with monkeys is OK as long as we don't allow them to "evolve" into us again.

3. In case anyone is curious...
In case anyone is curious about the answer to Ms. O'Donell's question...

Humans and chimps diverged from a common ancestor millions of years ago. Humans and chimps have "evolved" the same amount in that time insofar as it would not be shocking if chimp DNA was a s far from our common ancestor as human DNA is.

Since the humans and chimpanzee lines diverged the human line developed dozens or hundreds (or thousands) of large brained hand-having bipeds any one of which could have easily reached "humanness", a trait that may be best defined as a hominid species the appearance of which coincides with a mass-extinction comparable to a huge asteroid impact. (Clever enough to eat all the other large animals and dramatically change the ecosystem.)

Of all those other proto-humans not a single one survived, because "we" killed them. "We" being one group from Ethiopia that rose from a bottle-necked population of only ten thousand to sweep around the world exterminating all the other versions. (Most recently, neanderthal man.)

All monkeys (sic) who reach any level of competitive similarity to humans would be weeded out by humans, and have been.

4. It is funnier if you link it to this Faux news article
http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2010/09/25/america-losing-science-brainpower-advantage/

America elects people who's science understanding is such they think questions like "Why Aren't Monkeys Still Evolving Into Humans" is something not well handled by the theory of evolution and can seriously claim there is more evidence for creationism than evolution so it needs to be taught in schools. When of course anyone that understands the theory of evolution knows exactly what the answer is, and why the question represents a false dilemma.

At the same time you have America's businesses saying we need a highly educated work force or we can't compete globally for jobs.

15. So many idiots frame evolution as monkeys turning into people.
In reality, monkeys, apes and humans all had common ancestors, but one never morphed into the other. But of course these morAns don't care about facts or science in the slightest.
