The news has been canceled. It's true; I just looked at my teevee.
First observation: All the local channels are running infomercials. They don't even try anymore, most of the staff has been laid off.

2. CNN. Rainy Southeast. A couple of suits, one man and one woman, are showing the radar and telling people where it's raining that it's going to rain. Same thing anyone can get on Weather Underground.

Now, it's about an Eco-Super-Hero and Captain Planet. My blood pressure is climbing.

3. Fox "News". A commercial spot for flowers from South America doused in pesticides and preservatives that Sean Hannity likes to "give" away.

WHOA! Another Bailout! says the spokesmodel. Some Wall Street turd is on now defending Lawrence Summers, who now wants to spend more time with his family. And there's personal reasons involved.

Screen scroll says Lindsay Lohan is in some kind of trouble and that Fox News is the source for all your midterm election "news".

Now "tax borrow and spend" scroll is heating things up as right wing Wall St tool finally shuts up. Coming up: A celebration of the US Military from sunny SoCal.

Steve needs to puke. Back soon.

4. MSNBC: Some infomercial-style promotion of open-heart surgery sponsored by the American Heart Association. No actual news staff appear to work on weekends.

----

In summary, there is nothing worthy of political discourse, nor is there any news at all in the United States on a Saturday. Every mouth breather male is watching football and getting hammered. And most of their overweight women are at Wal-Mart or Kroger's or Safeway buying super-size weiners and Coors Light for their fat man-piles.

What a country.

Ms. D and I are leaving town. Time for a hike.

1. The news is on at 5 or 6 and at 10; your're just watching daytime tv
Edited on Sat Sep-25-10 11:40 AM by stray cat

3. yeah, especially on weekends
They don't even run the good movies on weekends. At least during the week, there's an occasional gem from TCM, an obscure and forgotten B&W film from back in the good old days when they hired screenwriters instead of CGI and special effects guys. Oh, and forget about history, it's all Nostradumbass and bible crap.

5. Yeah, you're right. That's all there is.
I have no problem with that.

Since you appear to be a Husker fan, let me thank you for your guys putting a beatdown on Washington last week.

Go Ducks!

4. MSNBC is horrible on the weekends.
It annoys the crap out of me that they don't repeat KO on Friday at 10:00, but go to prison programs. Who watches that crap!

6. Prisoners watch. They have a huge captive audience and reap
the ratings. It doesn't get anymore disgustingly opportunistic than that. Cable news organizations are corporate pigs.

19. I used to get better news during saturday morning cartoons
than i do now. They used to show "In The News" during commercial breaks for saturday morning cartoons. It was news for children but it's much more mature than the crap that passes for journalism today .
