Breitbart admits to being a C student in math and science and yet STILL expects us to listen to |
|
his views on global warming. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fV6q7iC5XskHe admits he knows nothing. End of story.

his show.
Breitbart and whats-her-face, the African-American woman repuke,..oh yes,, Nichols, I think...turned the show into a chaotic mess.
Having those maroons on his show does NOT enhance the experience at all. From now on when I see that his guests include any of those idiots, I will not watch it...
EDIT: her name is Amy Holmes. Thank you Nikki Stone1

5. Actually it is instructive to watch it. |
|
You can really get a feel for how stupid Breitbart is. Ann Druyan, Carl Sagan's widow, was on last night and she was trying to explain to Breitbart about how scientists bicker and snark with each other re: the East Anglia emails. Druyan is a producer of scientific programs for public television. Breitbart didn't even listen to her and just kept barking. It was clear that he wished to remain ignorant and that was very enlightening to me.

8. No, he wanted to talk over her explanation so the audience wouldn't hear it. |
|
Had they been able to listen to her, they might think Breitbart was an asshat (which he is). Talking over was his only defense.

I didn't know much about Breitbart before watching the show, but now I know he is both stupid and willfully ignorant. That is a helpful thing.

18. Everyone's watches TV emotionally. Your meme is not well-taken |
|
The medium is not set up for true thought. The best thing to do is not watch. If you watch on the internet, you can stop it, think about it, rewatch it. And you don't have to have a TV set on all day.

we don't view in thinking mode, but I actually like to listen to what some people say on teevee. I know some viewers just respond to rhythm of the voices of teevee people, like it's music. Maybe I do the same. Maybe I just like different rhythms.

But the format of the show is about jumping in and talking over others. The panel is like that. Perhaps she needed some coaching on that.

Off after the monologue. But that does bring up an interesting problem. If you are going to invite a conservative to a panel discussion show, how do you find one that is NOT an asshat? Buckley was always an asshole, but never an ill-informed asshat. I suspect if you got Steve Forbes on, he wouldn't be an asshat, just another greedy rich asshole.

28. The problem is that our political discourse has turned into asshattery |
|
The two most relevant and watched political shows are hosted by comedians (Marr and Stewart). That's really saying something about where our political discourse is. When you need a comedian to debunk political talk, then political talk has become comedy, if a rather dark comedy. Case in point, Glenn Beck, rodeo clown.

He was almost like a normal person. Well, except he was Republican.
I still wish Maher would ONLY have on libs. We need more lib-only shows. Fox is 24/7 con-only.

10. I like the fact that he invites the other side on, even when I vehemently disagree (ie, always). |
|
What he needs to do is have liberals with stronger argumentation skills on. Seth McFarland is hysterical but not the most aggressive debater. His points were typically well-taken but he doesn't understand he has to jump in.

She speaks well, but once you begin to unravel her arguments, you see they are empty. Here again, instructive to actually watch and listen to her. You can see how those arguments are made to sound convincing but how there are holes all over the place.

19. Maher blew such a huge opportunity |
|
Edited on Sat Sep-25-10 02:56 PM by Ramulux
Maher blew it big time by having on these two republican clowns and no intelligent liberals. The entire time I was watching the show I was thinking that this could have been such a great opportunity to put Breitbart in his fucking place. This guy never goes on shows with liberals and this was the perfect show to match him up with someone like Cenk Uyger or Elliot Spitzer who could have easily humiliated him and broke down every argument he made.
Instead the two conservatives ran rings around Bill and made him look like an idiot. Bill is no intellectual and hes not great at debate, he screwed up royally by bringing on these two republicans who have a lifetime of experience at lying and making ridiculous arguments and just letting them spout their crap. I know Bill does an entertainment show and he doesn't sell himself as an academic, but still, if he had Cenk of the Young Turks on he could have made headline news and humiliated Breitbart in front of the entire world.

25. And on another thread DU'er JHB caught one of Breitbart's errors ... text below |
|
originally posted by JHB....
just to note: Ben Stein was not an economist for Nixon His father, Herbert Stein, was (Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors, the post currently held by Austan Goolsbee)
Ben Stein was a junior staff speechwriter and lawyer for Nixon. He has a BA in economics, but that doesn't make one an "economist", except of the worst sort. -------------------------
Note: On Maher's show Breitbart interrupted Maher when he was in the middle of the New Rules segment and said something about Ben Stein working as an economist for Nixon.
