Martin: Paul's 9/11 explanation deserves to be debated
Great article about how US MidEast involvement has repurcusions:

snip -

After watching all the network pundits laud Giuliani, it struck me that they must be the most clueless folks in the world.

First, Giuliani must be an idiot to not have heard Paul's rationale before. That issue has been raised countless times in the last six years by any number of experts.

Second, when we finish with our emotional response, it would behoove us to actually think about what Paul said and make the effort to understand his rationale.

snip -

At some point we have to accept the reality that playing big brother to the world -- and yes, sometimes acting as a bully by wrongly asserting our military might -- means that Americans alive at the time may not feel the effects of our foreign policy, but their innocent children will.

1. The only problem with Ron Paul's explanation is that it is wrong
...not because the Arabs had an excuse to commit acts of terrorism against the United States on U.S. territory because we were over in Saudi Arabia with a military presence violating their sacred rights for eleven years. After all the Saudi government gave the U.S. permission to be there and maintain military bases there, that was certainly well understood. The real reason 9/11 happened in the way it happened was because the Bush administration let it happen and/or made it happen on purpose. Why? Simply to further their neoconservative agenda.

Bushco had its plan in place to take over complete neocon control of the U.S. constitutional government and establish a Christian Fascist form of government in this country. They almost succeeded and could still could succeed if the democrats fumble this last chance by not having the balls to impeach these bastards before Bush and Cheney start another full scale war using nuclear weapons against Iran. They are very close top doing that while congress dances around pretending to be walking on eggshells.

Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld when he controlled the Pentagon have weakened the U.S military and every day adds greater strength to the private military forces which now out number the U.S. forces in the middle-east. His $100 billion supplemental spending is 80% spoken for to pay for the private armies, primarily Black-Water forces which is the private army of the republican party. Our congress is totally naive if they think they can trust Bush and the Pentagon to take $100 billion and let them control the spending of that money without accountability. Yet, they are letting Bush have his way with Cheney running around letting his fascist buddies know the money is coming. Once Congress yields the purse strings on this, it is game over!

2. What did he say, exactly? I'd like to read his words to see if I agree or not.
Otherwise, I won't feel qualified to discuss the subject here.

Perhaps you can look through earlier posts for the link to the actual GOP debate session where Ron Paul was asked the question that began his firestorm. Sorry, I can't locate it.

<correction on the link, the above is a music video>

6. I've listened to both clips, now.
I see merit in both your argument and in Paul's, and I don't think that they're necessarily mutually exclusive.

Like you, though, I do believe that we are in grave peril and, unless our Democratic leaders take off their blinders and act decisively and soon, this democracy may well perish.

Thanks for the links.

8. You are welcome and I hope Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid remain
...strong democratic party leaders and the voice of reason and truth in both Houses of Congress. Now more free budget rides for Bush/Cheney and the Pentagon!

11. US foreign policy has always ruined lives and countries
The history books clearly document this,
Denying this is a huge lie and is lunacy,

Peoples who's lives the US ruins will hate the US.

This is not rocket science.
The fact that Guiliani and other GOP members can't see this
means they are truly delusional.

The future of US politics is really scary.
I'm glad I don't live in the US
