Sorry, I couldn't resist!
Hope it didn't scare you too much...
You don't have them very often, do you?

9. How cool for your son's birthday! |
|
3.2 is pretty small! I've had those happen right underneath me. That's about the only way you can feel them: sitting down with a shallow earthquake right there.

3.2 located 8 mi. NNW of Concord. Very shallow too, 3.1 miles in depth. There is no fault noted on the USGS website in that area. Could it be an explosion of some kind? Please go to the website to report it. It's very helpful to them. I always fill out the form when I feel one here in So. Cal. Here is a link, if you decide to do so. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Quakes/us2010brab.phphttp://earthquake.usgs.gov/ (main page)

3. 3.2 10 miles from Concord. |

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Maps/US2/42.44.-73.-71.phpIt's not too large to a californian, but your buildings aren't made for something that feels like a large truck just hit your home's foundation. Haele

8. we live in an old farmhouse- |
|
that's been settling for over 180yrs, but it did rattle the windows pretty well. I can only imagine what it must be like to experience a substantial earthquake.
thanks for the info. :hi:

10. 3.1 miles is very shallow. You should have felt a pretty good jolt. |

12. I lived in Indiana back in the 70's and |
|
there was a small earthquake. I felt it and it rattled the dishes in my china closet which must have been an aftershock because the first one got me out of bed by shaking it. That's how come when I felt the second one and saw the dishes rattle and shake I knew it must be an earthquake.
But I live on the Iron Range in Minnesota. When they set off explosives to shake the ore loose it rattles the whole darn house. And the cats go running under the bed.
