The Tea Party Takes Over the Comics Page

The newspaper comics page: some find it to be innocuous, even at times irrelevant. But there's a growing concern among a certain segment of the country that the comics page is out of step with mainstream values, if not an outright cesspool of treasonous, pinko propaganda. So in the interest of fairness and balance we present comics reinvented by "Tea Party cartoonist Joe Smith" -- with a little help from Ward Sutton.

2. They're already working on it.

My syndicate sold this to a few papers as a gag-a-day golf strip. Then the cartoonist pulled a trojan horse and turned it into a teabagger strip. They promote the hell out of it while leaving most of our other strips to wave in the wind.

Of course, I can't complain. At least at the main site, my strip has seven times the readership of his.

8. Good work.
Went back several and I like them.

This one made me laugh. (It probably won't display here, let's see...)

3. Heartily Rec'ced
Satire is powerful when wielded correctly, and this series is easily understood by everyday readers. As an added bonus, it will tweak a few teabagger noses - I hope to the extent that they wallow in poutrage.

5. Filthy details of sex?
Only a perverted Teabagger would see the details of sex as filthy. Maybe their sex is filthy but mine is not. Maybe they don't bathe. Weird ass repressed creeps.

6. Lifted from a fellow DUer's sigline:
Life in Lubbock, Texas, taught me two things: One is that God loves you and you're going to burn in hell. The other is that sex is the most awful, filthy thing on earth and you should save it for someone you love. ~Butch Hancock

And to paraphrase Woody Allen: 'If you don't think sex is dirty, you're not doing it right.'
