Remember that old movie and book? It was about a military take-over of the US government. Only thing different from today was that the President was liberal and the Chairman if the JCS was a MacCarthy lunatic. Today there are so many Generals and Admirals who oppose the President that it could actually be the other way around. Could it now be possible? I'd be against it, but with the lack of direction in the Congress - I wonder.

not like in the book, but if the congress decides to REALLY do their jobs, they may need to assume the CinC role in some fashion. There are plenty of brass who would prefer to be receiving, shall we say, alternative civilian control than the "on in to the valley of death" lunacy they are being told to continue. The refusal of the extra 0.5% pay hike might just cement a relationship...
There is no remedy in the Constitution for what we face. Impeachment sounds nice, and it would be satisfying to see a thug or two ridden out of town on a rail, but the problem is far more pervasive that impeachment can solve.
