What the New York Times won't tell you about Julian Assange's accuser
Edited on Sun Sep-26-10 01:57 PM by Mefistofeles
The only reference ever to Anna Ardin (one of the two women who pressed charges against Wikileaks' Julian Assange) in the New York Times, can be seen here: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/26/world/europe/26wikileaks.html

The NYT says absolutely nothing about these facts:

-Ardin is a spokesman for a Christian group within Sweden's leading political party.
-Ardin once wrote in a blog that women should get back at their ex boyfriends by "getting them in trouble with the law".

As usual, we have to learn that from newspapers in other countries.

But what do you expect? This is the New York Times. When the Government wants to start a war based on lies, there is the New York Times, willing to help, by playing dumb. When the government wants to sink Julian Assange, there is the New York Times, willing to play dumb.

This lady's blog post should be top story everywhere. Her credibility is zero.

3. According to news from Europe, the U.S.
stated that if Julian Assange succeeded in getting residency in Sweden which would give him protection under their laws, the U.S. would stop sharing intelligence with Sweden. So it's clear they were going to do anything to 'get' Assange.

Also, in Sweden, many people were shocked when the identity of the woman was revealed, knowing her background.

It's not surprising that as usual, only Americans would be kept in the dark about this woman's connections and history. We are on our own as far as getting real news. And if it was not for the internet, where I learned a lot about this woman, Americans would remain in a constant state of ignorance.

I firmly believe he was set up.

4. US also threatened to withdraw intelligence from UK, if they revealed torture info
Regarding detainee binyan mohammed. Looks like this thread is common coercion tool.

8. Yes, I remember that. Why anyone wants our 'intelligence' is
beyond me considering how bad it is. I guess they all want to be part of the game no matter how criminal it is.

If Assange does get residency in Sweden, it would be very difficult for the U.S. to try to extradite him, so it's obvious they would try anything to prevent that from happening.

Makes you wonder who this woman knows. The rightwing news paper that first published the charges has been against Sweden's 'armed neutrality' and advocates more cooperation with the U.S.

Interesting that they were the publication to receive the news of the charges, and even more interesting would be to know who gave it to them.

17. Give it a few months. If there's another peep out of WikiLeaks...
The CIA will have a bullet in Assange's head.

7. I had an ex who threatened to do that
she went around telling everyone I date-raped her, luckily people know me well enough not even her friends believed her. Ah, junior high, bad times for all. Too bad the level of discourse in the media is right there at that junior high level.

BTW I feel for the guy... the only thing worse than someone who falsely accuses someone of that sort of thing are the people that actually do that sort of thing

11. She INVITED him to speak in Stockholm
http://nicholasmead.com/2010/08/21/how-to-smear-a-hero/#comment-1604

It seems pretty clear Ardin invited Assange to speak in Stockholm. She must have known he was on the way. That seminar can’t have been Assange’s primary reason for coming to Sweden.

I’ve invited Julian Assange from WikiLeaks to Sweden, he’s coming!!

When asked where and when, she responded:

11 o’clock, haven’t found a venue yet…

Then a day later:

Julian Assange, WikLeaks, seminar 11:00 in the LO building! Register with Janbroderskap.se, priority for the press
2:32 PM Aug 11th via Twitter for Android

(A day later they were already sold out.)

So she invited him. But does anyone know if they knew each other before this?

16. Jesus said, "When someone strikes you on one cheek, try to get him in trouble with the law."
And when He was asked for protection by a woman the crowd wanted to stone for adultery, Jesus said, "She committed adultery? Hell, someone gimme a rock!"

The King James translation may not have the exact same wording.
