The Tea Party is now more powerful than President Obama
Who would have predicted this a year ago? Certainly not the complacent army of White House spin doctors who have failed to grasp, let alone acknowledge, the momentous political transformation that is sweeping America. CNN’s latest poll confirms that the Tea Party movement has more political clout than the President of the United States in influencing voters during this November’s mid-terms. While just 37 percent of Americans are more likely to vote for a candidate if backed by Barack Obama, a far larger 50 percent will vote for a Tea-Party endorsed candidate.

As CNN puts it:

A solid majority of all Americans — 56 percent — say that Obama has fallen short of their expectations. As a result, the president is not in a position to help struggling Democratic candidates; only 37 percent of likely voters say they are more likely to vote for a congressional candidate backed by Obama.

In contrast, half of all likely voters now say they are likely to choose a candidate supported by the conservative Tea Party — contributing to the GOP’s 53 to 44 percent lead when such voters are asked which party’s candidate they will choose in November.

see how the right are spinning these teabaggers? However, it may be the end of the GOP. Instead the Raving Loony Party (RLP).

7. Absolutely, I agree with you, kentuck..
Either it's just that.. the biggest BS story ever told.. or they are setting up to steal the election.. I'm guessing it's the former.

13. I think they are hoping it is self-fulfilling propaganda...
If they say it long enough, 24/7, then almost everyone will start to believe it. They believe they have that power, in my opinion.

16. Propaganda can be used to manipulate the vote in a couple of ways..
Edited on Sun Sep-26-10 07:12 PM by left coaster
..by discouraging people from voting.. or, possibly, misrepresenting a trend of voting preference, pre-election, to set the stage for possible fraud.. as far as I know Diebold op-scan systems will still be used in many places.. so, yes, I personally think that some voter fraud in this November's election, is a real possibility..

Do you think voter fraud of this type couldn't have happened in the past, or can't possibly happen in a future election?

20. I have said it over and over...the polls run by republican companies
are setting up the fact that the republicans have programmed their voting machines to steal another election. Just watch and see...600 votes in a city where only 50 people voted they do it all the time.

8. oh...it's another one of those vague "likely" voters polls. . .
this has been used time and time again to push the media meme that almost everyone is voting GOP.
I suppose now the media needs to do something to save their faltering credibility after hyping the TEA Party all along. They act as if there are no other Americans.

12. Isn't The Telegraph a right wing rag in England? They had printed a nasty blog about Biden meeting
with Clegg the other day....it was just plain ugly.

15. Dewey Defeats Truman
try to read on this.

For a bunch of technical reasons, no I shall not bother with them, polling is now doing 'thing wrong, and cannot be trusted. Don't matter if you like the results or not. But in November the RW media is in for a shock I suspect. Just that when people like Angle say that if they don't get their way, second amendment remedies are next... should worry you.

Oh and the Telegraph IS a RW rag... just in case you did not know that.

The House sets the compass. If we lose it, President Obama will be begging pretty please for at least two years.

Not that the teabaggers are going to get shit. The GOP won't fulfill any of their extremist fantasies. But they will stop the President cold. Whatever the President got done in the first two years is it for this term.

19. Why the tea baggers are irrelevant...
A group of aging homophobic, xenophobic, racists trying to push back the hands of the clock cannot force America to step back in time regardless of their simple minded desires for a Normal Rockwell world. That world never existed. No society has ever successfully pushed away progress and remained a vibrant and living culture. America is clearly becoming more socially tolerant, culturally accepting, globally interdependent, and interconnected. The tea baggers may have their moment in the sun, but they will not bend the trajectory of America. It is more likely they represent the death throws of the old guard. In short they may win the battle but they are destined to lose the war.

Barack Obama is faster than a speeding building, and able to leap tall bullets in a single bound.

What could be more powerful than that?
