It's too bad they can't both lose...
"Well, I generally look at Democrats versus Republicans the same way I view Notre Dame facing USC in football: it's too bad they can't both lose."

-quote from facebook friend

"If I am offered hepatitis or tuberculosis I see no reason why I should not simply say no without offering an alternative." - When asked about a viable alternative to not voting for either party

My response:

"I don't think the choice is 2 deadly diseases. As long as we are throwing analogies around I think the republicans are cancerous tumors and the democrats are chemo and radiation. We might die anyway and we are going to get very sick before we get better but at least with treatment we have a fighting chance. The tea party, in my analogy, is like some crazy psychic doctor with a degree from a South American mail order college that says they can heal you by pulling bloody clumps out of your body with their bare hands while they chant and writhe to Lee Greenwood and Toby Keith songs."

1. I see it a little differently..
The American body politic has cancer, Republicans are a cyanide pill while Democrats are half an aspirin tablet.

2. So you think it's hopeless either way?

3. There are occasional instances of spontaneous remission..
The Republicans are both savage and relentless and unfortunately the Democrats are mostly timid and feckless, that's not an auspicious juxtaposition of attributes.

5. I notice that your response is completely bereft of anything resembling a solution
You've stated that both parties are useless at solving our problems, yet you don't even provide a hint toward what you see as a solution. If your goal is to demoralize people and infect them with apathy like some internet version of Typhoid Mary, then I offer a hearty WELL DONE! You're ensuring that we get that cyanide pill sooner rather than later. Thanks a pantload.

7. That's because I don't see any solution..
Cancer is fairly often fatal even with the best of treatment.

It's my considered opinion that the cancer of corporatism is going to be fatal to our culture.

History shows that civilizations have a finite lifespan just like any other organism, why should our civilization be unique in this regard?

8. If you think it's futile
then why are you even here? If I felt that the end of civilization was at hand, I'll be damned if I would spend the rest of my short-ass existence trolling an internet discussion board - of all fucking things. Some of us will keep discussing problems and solutions, despite those who insist it's the end of the fucking world.

6. I think both parties suck
I choose Dems as the lesser of two evils.

9. Republicanism: A mutant Ebola-like disease.
Would you rather be a soulless conservative extremist with no heart and no mind, or would you choose to have Ebola and have normal human feelings like empathy, compassion and love?
