A frustrated Mike Castle says: 'It got crude' (on the race with O'Donnell)
Amazing read and it really shows just how amazingly disgusting these tea party people are.

A frustrated Castle says: 'It got crude'
'Damned rumor' went too far, congressman says

WASHINGTON — As the shock of his crushing primary loss begins to fade, Rep. Mike Castle is lashing out at the forces that he believes did him in – and that threaten the future of GOP moderates in Congress.

In his first extensive interview since that defeat, the first of his long career, Castle said that distortions of his voting record by conservative commentators and the California-based Tea Party Express “clearly contributed” to his 6-percentage-point loss to tea party-backed candidate Christine O’Donnell.

Castle did not vote for the economic stimulus package, health care reform or a move to impeach George W. Bush, as some commentators reported.

He also expressed outrage with an online video by a former O’Donnell staffer citing “a rumor” that Castle had cheated on his wife with a man, an allegation that Castle called an “outright lie.” During the primary campaign, O’Donnell twice repeated the rumor while denying involvement with the video.

<<<<snip>>>>

Castle acknowledged a write-in campaign would be divisive, but so was the primary. He said that after the primary, callers identifying themselves as tea party members taunted his staffers by saying, "Oh, you don't have a job anymore."

"It got much worse," he said. "It got crude."

Trust me they get crude - just read the comments to understand how disgusting these people get. And they'll do it to Coons too.

3. Well, Mike.....
....I'm personally sorry that you were the victim of the fanatical movement which has taken over the Republican Party. You got a taste of what you'd be facing this year at that town hall meeting you held back in the Summer of 2009 <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pyne-KXD6fU&feature=channel> and you probably should have better-prepared yourself. Nevertheless, there is plenty of room for diversity in the Democratic Party and unlike the GOPTea, we don't purge out moderates. We hope you will join us.

7. No, we don't need him.
The only ones that switch parties are Republicans who have a scandal waiting in the wings.

6. I guess when you can't run on the issues
Making outrageous attacks on the character of your opponent is the only way to go. I'm not saying its the right thing to do, but that's what usually happens.

8. A round-earth Republican is a rare thing in 2010?
(Sen.Alan)Simpson said of Castle, "He's just very special, and it's, to me -- a round-Earth Republican -- very difficult to watch."

I don't expect my senators to have fully absorbed that Pluto has been declassified as a planet and can forgive references to a 9 planet solar system but I'd like all of them Republicans included to comprehend that the Earth is round.

Sad that members of Congress have such a phrase for each other but I must admit I like the phrase. Unfortunately, such specimens are so rare I'm afraid I won't get to use it very often. :(

10. Castle is what passes for "moderate" among Republicans nowadays
And he got freight-trained by the very movement his party has been nurturing for years, the Know-Nothing Nitwit Brigade. Republicans have kept their little pets mad, uninformed, and pointed at the Democrats. They're gyrating out of control now, though, and people like Mike Castle can look forward to getting spattered with the spew themselves. By all accounts, Castle is a decent guy with a long record in public service. But his failure, and the failure of like-minded colleagues in the party, to do anything about the nitwits has brought about his own political demise.

Too bad, but also too predictable.
