CNN's Arwa Damon is "embedded" with troops searching
for the three MIA soldiers. She's filing plenty of reports; both on the search and about the guys. they are all cross-linked so I'll just post one -

http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/05/18/damon.missingsoldiers/index.html

Excerpts from article, plus photolinks from my website:

Sgt. 1st Class James D. Connell Jr., 40, of Lake City, Tennessee, was among those killed. "Connell was a father of four.

?

• Pfc. Christopher Murphy was a 21-year-old assistant gunner from Gladys, Virginia. "Like his squad leader said, he died the death of an Irishman. The enemy could not physically restrain him, even though he had shrapnel wounds all over his body. He wrestled them, so they shot him," Spring-Glace says.

Murphy's body was found a short distance from the attack. "He was a 'Star Wars' enthusiast. He wore glasses. His glasses were broken, always broken. And when he got angry, his voice would get high-pitched."

Murphy:

• Daniel Courneya, 19, was promoted posthumously to a specialist, from a private first class. He was nicknamed "Cornball."

"He had just married his wife, Jennifer, less than a year ago. She had just sent him a baseball cap," Spring-Glace says.

Cornball:

• Sgt. Anthony Schober of Reno, Nevada, was a 23-year-old squad leader. His was the last body to be identified. "He was a goofy guy, skinny, with the metabolism of a god," he says, with a sad smile. "When he got back, he was going to a permanent station in Italy."

Schober:

Schober's body was just identified today from DNA.
Of course these four fatalities are getting extra coverage by CNN because of the search for the other three. There have been eighteen more killed since these four. Each has anecdotes like this - young widows, kids... they get written up in local papers, but generally not covered by CNN or any national outlets. Follow the links on my website - I have 2-3 news links for most, add more daily as the names get released.

Faces

The missing three:
Spc. Alex R. Jimenez, 25, of Lawrence, Mass
?

Pfc. Joseph J. Anzack Jr., 20, of Torrance, Calif.

Pvt. Byron W. Fouty, 19, of Waterford, Mich.

2. Thank you for this
I wish all the dead got this kind of coverage, it means so much to know just a little about each of them, even the quirky things about them. For whatever the reason these young people put their lives on the line and paid the ultimate price. They deserve to be recognized as more than just casualty numbers.

RIP soldiers, and my thoughts to go out to the three missing and all the families.

4. bookmark my site and visit every once in a while
I add links and pictures regularly. Oftentimes there is not much in the first couple of news articles - but then a reporter does a "human interest" story - talks to teachers, neighbors, etc. and writes a nice piece. Now that I think of it, I should id those links differently.

3. So goddam pointless.
How can Bush live with himself? He could stop this tomorrow if he felt like it. Send your own daughters and nephews to Iraq, Dimson....put your own blood on the line.
