The first local slots parlor (casino) opened yesterday. On the noon nooz they interviewed .....
..... gamblers at the site.

The people interviewed appeared to me to be from the lower levels of the gene pool. They were impressed with the bright colors and the interior temperature. They appeared to me to be people who could likely ill afford to lose a lot of money. I also suspect they're the profile of the patrons who would make their way to a local gambling venue even as a Vegas or AC trip is too rich for them.

I know we do not so well when we judge books by their covers. I am sure these were all very nice people. I stand by my initial impressions.

1. "I stand by my initial impressions."
Which one?

That gamblers have bad lives, or that they are genetically inferior?

Gambling has been called a tax on the poor and desperate. I'm not sure chromosomes have anything to do with it.

2. You'd probably be shocked at the appearance of high-bidders at auctions, too.

3. If the people looked

that bad they probably came from those counties/cities on the west side of the river.
I guess I should of turned around and looked at the TV. Course I could just drive over and look for myself. I find it hard to believe we are the only ones with a working slot parlor when as a percentage of the population we probably had the most people against them for a single area. Surprised our right wing, conservative, tea potty, morality enforcers aren't out picketing. Then again they are hard at work trying to get Ex Gov. Whiner re-elected.

4. I had my first Vegas visit in May
It seemed people in some of the casinos and around the town were so desperate and depressing. I like the casinos in Niagara Falls, Canada, better.

5. The enjoyment that used to be a Las Vegas trip was sucked out when the corporations took over.
The old crooks understood that when people have a really good time losing their money, they don't really mind and will come back. Today it is like a trip to Disneyland, a colorful facade tacked up on the front of a blatant cash extraction machine with it's hands in your pocket wherever you turn.
