'I'm Jack Conway's pollster.
A new Louisville Courier-Journal/WHAS poll came out yesterday backing up our internal polls: Jack is statistically tied with Rand Paul -- 47% to 49%. So I'm writing today to give you a quick insider's analysis of the polling trends.
First, Jack has been under constant attack on TV over the last couple weeks from various right-wing groups who are trying to drive up his negative poll numbers.
But it's not working right now -- even after this barrage of attacks, Jack is polling strongly.
Second, throughout this race, Rand Paul has had higher "name ID" than Jack. Almost everyone knows Rand Paul, but a lot of voters still don't know who Jack is.
But among those voters who do know both candidates, Jack is leading.
We'll win this race if we make sure more people get to know Jack and if we fight to keep the attack ads from dragging down his numbers.
