A funny thing happened at my job. As with everyone and everything they are trying to save money. And as with everyone and everything it was decided that the people at the top shouldn't have to suffer needlessly (and by suffer I mean buy the new Lear Jet without the gold plated faucets) so the cuts would be made at the bottom. Less equipment to do the job, less pay, and cut back on the food( I work on the road so food is provided).
Sound familiar? The government is trying to save money. So where will the cuts come from? The top? Uh no. Corporations with outrageous tax breaks? Hell no. The Pentagon, which still cannot account for a missing 2 TRILLION dollars. Nope, not even close. Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, Teachers, the middle class... the people most in need will have to suffer.
This is a House Of Cards. The problem with a House Of Cards is if you keep taking the cards from the bottom and putting them on top... eventually the whole damn thing will collapse.

1. I think the house already collapsed, about two years ago. |

I would like to also take comfort in the idea that a pyramid will fall if you keep hacking away at the base. Collapse may be immanent and that may provide opportunity in the midst of the ensuing chaos.
Personally, I would like to see all hierarchical societal structure and dependencies go the way of the Dodo. It is only hard to imagine such a potential because of who decides what will be presented as necessary and true. We are seeing the results of that ancient paradigm and with a little stretching, imagining and envisioning something else is not so difficult at all.
