Palin booed at DWTS live on ABC no video yet
The backstage interview with Jennifer grey was interrupted by a loud chorus of booing off-camera forcing Grey to ask why the crowd was booing.
Next thing you know there's old Caribou Barbie sitting with Tom Bergeron for a brief awkward interview.

No video yet, but surprisingly refreshing!

1. The judges seemed to "manage" smiles when the cameras zoomed in but

not before that.

2. Were there boos?
I am watching. She didn't get the loudest ovation, but I don't think I heard any boos when the camera focused on Palin and when she was introduced.
Are you sure that's why they booed during Grey's interview?

4. There were not only boos, but LOUD boos
The on-camera interviewees even asked why they were booing. Now they know.
Ha!

6. I heard the boos during Grey's interview
but didn't know it was because of Palin. Is that confirmed?
When they showed Palin and introduced her, there weren't any boos that I could hear.

7. They booed right before they cut to Palin.
Edited on Mon Sep-27-10 08:24 PM by Janice325
I thought they were booing Ms. Grey's score (which they were probably doing), but I just totally roflmao'ed when they cut to Palin. The timing was incredibly bad (or deliberate), the booing came late after the scores, but it was hysterical, at least for me.

You really had to see it "live" to appreciate it. OUCH!!

10. I did see it live
I thought they booed because Grey's scores were lower than the audience would've liked them to have been.

17. I agree with you, bigwillq.
It's just that the boos, followed by of the sight of Palin just totally cracked me up. Extremely hilarious timing, IMO.

20. The audience cheered the judge's cores
They were all eights, I believe.
The booing started when Dingus was being trotted out.

8. Why?
Most, if not all, of the contestants have family members in the audience.

13. C'mon now
I hate Sarah Palin, but I'm not going to begrudge her seeing her daughter in a competition like this. The interview was the bad part, her being there isn't.

32. She can be there but why does she have to be a "guest?"
It would have been classy to decline that so the focus could be on her daughter's perf., but then again when does she ever turn down attention?

She can be there but why does she have to be a "guest?"

This is what I meant. Unless DWTS normally solicits commentary from relatives of contestants while they're competing, having Palin do so is well worthy of being booed.

24. Wouldn't be surprised. They wouldn't want the show...
... to appear "biased" by letting a factual but "potentially controversial" happening get onto the air.

16. We'll see if the boos are still in the broadcast
by the time it airs on the West Coast.

I'm thinking that's a big "no".

In the meantime, DWTS is walking a dangerous tightrope. Those who tune in are looking for cheesy fun. Sarah Palin is NOT "cheesy fun".

You can hear the loud boos and the commentator mentions it. Then they show Palin after the boos had stopped.

30. As stated in another thread: you are incorrect
The scores were not low. The crowd cheered the scores. The booing didn't start until the 800 numbers were being given out and Palin was about to appear on camera.
Grey received the highest scores of the night. Why would the crowd boo?

31. She has said so many rude things about L.A. 'Hollywood' etc.
Frankly if I was there I would sit on my hands rather than boo however, maybe the Angelinos wanted to show her that despite her statements to the contrary they are "real" Americans, evidenced by the REAL boos! :)
