A republican called Randi Rhodes today. He'd only just heard yesterday
about the Senate Bill 1637 (the one giving tax breaks to companies who outsource).

He said that more people need to be aware of this and felt if people really understood, they'd understand better what's going on and not fall for the propaganda to perpetuate such things.

Really nice guy, has been listening to Randi for a long time, and agrees with what the message is (I was wondering why he still considered himself a Republican.)

Anyway, he said the Dems' problem is that he thinks they're (we're) too intellectual -- we/they don't come out with this info with both barrels blasting like the Republicans do.

As Randi said, there are so few 'news' companies that focus on what the Dems say -- that Obama signed the Small Business bill today and it wasn't even on the news!

I of course agree with this man and it shows that there are some sane "your father's Republicans" out there who DO listen to reason and to the facts. How do we get to THEM? How many of them listen to Progressive Radio with an open mind?

That's all, it's just so frustrating at times. We contact our reps, talk to our friends, help with GOTV, but we're not being heard like the Repubs. I understand that the corporations that own the media also own companies that benefit greatly from the outsourcing, but.... but.... Sigh. :(

1. Job #1 for our side-Messaging
I mean seriously.
We have to face the fact that most voters are bombarded by RW messaging. Most of it nonsense. But our side can't even stage a good battle on ending tax cuts for the wealthy.

2. She converts at least one a week.
The power of actual fact.

I love that woman. She's a hard-headed information junkie with an analytical mind second to none.

She should be on television.

4. Randy Rhodes is the Left's version of the Right's media so she gets them to listen
There are plenty of the kinds of personalities that the Right feel comfortable listening to. Randy is one of them because she's passionate and she yells and many times she's rude and hangs up on people. Yet she knows her stuff and explains it very well. Ed Shultz is another one. They respect that because they understand it. People who are too intelectual just confuse them, to say nothing of their attention level being practically non-existent. They want their radio personalities to tell them what to think, not to assume they're thinking for themselves.
