Watching local news now...they're interviewing students right now. This sort of thing always makes me sad when it happens in other cities. When it happens in my own though, I find myself getting extremely pissed off.
I hope no one is hurt. I hope no one gets hurt. I can't imagine being a parent of a UT student right now.
Sounds like the shooter shot himself. I have no idea how accurate that report is though.

7. My heart goes out to the family members of the students... |
|
That's a level of hell no parent should ever go through. The campus and police have done an incredible job so far IMO...hopefully this helps eases a little of the fear for all who are concerned.

...sweeping rooms now in the McCombs building. They came in with shotguns, it was pretty wild stuff. I'm locked up here in the building across from where the shooting happened, so I don't have access to the news channels; is this being reported?

10. I'm still new to campus... |
|
...so I'm not sure where that area is. How close is it to the library where the initial shooting took place?

12. not far, it would be considered the "West mall" just south of the UT tower, rows of three bldgs on |
|
either side of the mall. Think this is the second bldg on the left if you are facing north towards the tower.
In other words, head west from PCL and immediately to your right you will have the west mall looking up towards the tower. It would be second bldg along the mall to your left.

11. I've been watching KVUE from the very start.... |
|
Local news is all over this story non-stop thankfully. The police are escorting the students off campus who were in lockdown from what I assume were buildings further away from the library. Given your current location, it sounds like you're going to remain locked down for a while which is probably for the best. From what I can tell, the reports of a possible 2nd gunman is due to the eyewitnesses giving two different clothing descriptions of the gunman they've seen.
Just let us know if you have any specific questions.
News just confirmed that the students who are now walking off campus were in buildings that have already been swept and deemed secure.
