A modest proposal: Let's Enslave the 12 million illegal immigrants.
I know this may not go over well in some circles but just look at it objectively, we would solve so many problems and save so much money it might be worth a try.

Simply declare all illegals as slaves, house them in our many prisons and let all the pot heads free. Make the 12 million slaves do all the jobs that Americans won't do cause they are beneath us, instead of sending OUR jobs overseas to Chinese or Taiwanese slaves like the ones who currently make all our stuff. Instead of paying foreigners to work cheap, we'd have millions of slaves right here, who'd work for NOTHING.

We wouldn't have the expense of going to get slaves, they're here already, we just don't let them out, ever. Most would live better here as slaves than they would at home, as barbara bush could tell you.

Immigrants should either get legal quick, or face enslavement and permanent servitude. Some could even be used in Iraq and Iran to fight the terrorists, which is real expensive what with all the troops and mercenaries. Slaves would do it for nothing cause they'd have nothing to lose.

republicans would maybe stop whining about high taxes cause the nation would save billions in the long run with slavery. Imagine the money saved by not paying 12 million potential 'permanent workers' replacing the highly over paid 'guest workers'!!!!!111

Bosses wouldn't have to hire illegals anymore to make a buck, they just use slaves, which they can buy or sell at whatever price the market will bear. Our president's own grandfather did this exact same thing using the doomed slaves at Auschwitz, and he made out like a bandit, and left this proud inheritance to his wealthy son, president 41, and his grand son, president 43, it's an American tradition.

If we just put our heads together and re-instate slavery, we can put this country back on track economically and colonially, just like the good ol' days. Who's with me here?

1. No at all a good idea. Too expensive
If they were slaves we would be responsible for housing, clothing and feeding them.

Right now all we have to do to get their labor is give them a couple of coins and then shoo them away at the end of the day.

How ironic. Our immigration policy right now is a step beneath the slave labor policy of yesteryear.

3. Non-voters are already slaves, and we know how these People vote.
With "liberty and justice for all" unless your skin is brown and you vote Democratic. That is the undercurrent of this issue.

Facing facts, we have to admit that there already has been a great coup pulled off. By "wink and nod" there has been no enforcement of the illegal migration of over 10 million people who would be about 80% Democratic voters if they were not kept in the new non-voting subclass of resident non-citizens.

This situation is unconstitutional because it violates the basic tenet of Americanism, "liberty and justice for all" without exception. It also violates the rights of one side of the political spectrum, denying voting to a large fraction of a left-leaning minority.

5. Many laugh at this notion.
That Mexican 'guest workers' are slaves, and suggest it is an insult to those who suffered slavery, but is the purpose not exactly the same? Huge profits derived from human misery.

7. I see it no other way.
These people have no legal recourse if their employer does not pay them for the service/labor they provide. No workmen's comp or any kind of benefits if they are hurt, get sick and lose their jobs. Many must live in substandard housing. One of my nieces that has been involved with an illegal for the past several years, spent the winter in a house whose floors where collapsing, no running water and no heat.

No, these people are slaves already. And allowing corporate America to get away with the enslavement of these people, is going to lead to the enslavement of many of the rest of us.

6. But how much worse is the misery where they came from?
As poor as they may be here, it seems to be a least a step up from where they were.

9. Okay, but I disagree in one area...anyone who knows our history
knows that it was those evil mexicans who were the original pot heads with their marijuana and all; if you don't believe me, just go read some of the hearst newspapers from that time and the Congressional Record in which much of it was recorded. So, be sure to save room in the prisons for the "original" pot heads.

I have to go wash my hands after typing that. :puke:

10. I know that too. and attempting to stop the flow of immigration
of Mexicans back in the day, was the major reason for making marijuana illegal. I guess our government figured they'd just stay in Mexico and smoke if they couldn't have it here.

12. I bet you already know this, but for those reading who may not...
"...was the major reason given for making marijuana illegal". It may have been more about business interests involved in removing cannabis, that is hemp and hemp products, from the market place rather than putting a stop to the free flow of Mexicans across the border. The use of anti-Mexican sentiment was just a convenient tool to hide behind and to use to promote a convenient and beneficial (to business) law.

15. No, no, no - maryJANE, it was maryJANE - the "temptations" of
the "evil weed" are the equivalent of the "feminine temptations" constantly bombarding our "lily-white" boys. Our "lily-white" girls are too pure to be tempted. :puke: :sarcasm: :puke:

13. Slaves, indentured servants, sharecroppers ... a whole range of 'company store' customers.
Edited on Sun May-20-07 11:18 AM by TahitiNut
Consider how many people at the lower end of the working class in the U.S. have little or no voice in their own governance ...

(1) illegal aliens who have no intention of immigrating or bringing their families (i.e. "undocumented" guest workers)
(2) illegal 'immigrants' who live under the radar with some immediate or extended family who may or may not be legal residents
(3) "guest workers" admitted under poorly-run programs
(4) incarcerated felons serving time in a prison and working in "prison industry"
(5) ex-felons from our over-populated prison system who've been denied the entitlement to vote
(6) legal residents under a variety of work visas (e.g. H-1B) who allege no intention to immigrate
(7) permanent resident aliens ("green card") who have not applied for citizenship for a variety of reasons including language skills

We just can't have uppity labor - those damned workers should just shut up and work harder. :grr:
