Do you believe TeaParty/GOP voters are influenced by simple slogans more than facts or truth because
Edited on Tue Sep-28-10 01:54 PM by blm
they really haven't paid that much attention to the details or to the facts and truth of what has been happening in Washington DC over the last few decades?

I do.

And I also believe that corporate media INTENDS for the sloganeering and jingoism of these groups to get the lion's share of the political coverage, too.

You don't see corporate media pushing the left's Oct 2 rally 24/7 the way they pushed Beck's rally, do you?

1. I think it is because most folks are never introduced to a thoughtful argument in their lives
They have no idea what it means to see honest argument and to make reasonable judgements as a result of them. It is simply missing from our day to day lives and as far as I can see is not taught to any degree in our schools.

2. I played with a Republican's head yesterday in the office and they
are very easily swayed because they don't know why they believe what they do until you make them tell you and they can't.

4. Their "politics" fit on bumper stickers or soundbites on Fox "News"...
Slogans and buzzwords are important, and actual thought is not a comfortable process...try to read any of Palin's speeches, especially when she was running for VP before most of her professional grooming coaches helped her to become "polished".

Read some GOP campaign ads..."More Jobs, Less Government" (From a Pat Toomey ad) with no explanation and no truth to any of it.

It is a matter of belief for them, not knowledge.

5. I believe they are influenced by hatred.
Hatred of blacks. Hatered of gays. Hatred of immigrants. Hatred of liberals.

They are all too willing to allow big industry finance their agenda. MSM is part of that financing. :hi:

10. Hit the nail on the head and add stupidity and you will have
tea bags one hundred per cent correct. Because who in their right mind would go against their own best interest to support the things the tea bags do.

6. Big combination of lousy things...
...parenting, schools, listening skills, reading skills, friends and colleagues, official propaganda, Corporate McPravda all serve to lead them to blissful ignorance.

7. They can't reason and are ignorant to the way things work..
I really believe they can comprehend up to a point...then they hit a brick wall and can't reason out the rest...

Don't know if it's a physical/mental deficiency or environmental...

8. I think they are motivated by selfishness and greed...
The fact is they are better off under Obama that they were under Bush. But that does not matter to them, they LOST and that was too much for them to deal with.

Look at it this way, many Tea Baggers are playing with the slogan "By Ballot or Bullet". They are so selfish and so greedy that they can't even see that their "slogan" is telling them to overthrow Democracy. If they can't win fairly by getting the most votes they will take it back by force. They want to overthrow a legally elected government. They have climbed so far up their own asses that they are trying to destroy America while screaming that they are "patriotic".

11. yup--it all works when soothing repetition and easy to remember phrases
are all part of the great Hypnosis of the Election. Dems tend to prefer hard facts and long complex speeches, but sometimes we need the jingles too. Too bad we don't get them.
