Parents say anti-gay bullies drove their 13 year old son to take his life
Tragic. This, and many more reasons are why we need anti-bullying laws that are enforced in our schools.

The eighth-grader killed himself last week. He shot himself in the head after enduring what his mother and stepfather say was constant harassment from four other students at Hamilton Middle School in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District.

Brown, his family said, was "bullied to death" — picked on for his small size, his religion and because he did not wear designer clothes and shoes. Kids also accused him of being gay, some of them performing mock gay acts on him in his physical education class, his mother and stepfather said.

The 13-year-old's parents said they had complained about the bullying to Hamilton Middle School officials during the past 18 months, but claimed their concerns fell on deaf ears.

David and Amy Truong said they made several visits to the school to complain about the harassment, and Amy Truong said she made numerous phone calls to the school that were never returned.

1. We HAVE anti-bullying laws that schools are mandated to follow.
Apparently this school did not. These parents will certainly prevail in the inevitable lawsuit.

of any complaints by the parents.

Far too often, schools side with the bullies.

They consider the victim a "troublemaker" just for being different, and believe he deserves whatever he gets.

5. The district lied about the parents' complaints immediately.
This kid had put up with abuse at school for two years. He'd just told his parents he is gay, so he's probably been tormented at school by bullies about that. He was a good student, an "A" student.

This is such a tragedy, and all the school will do is try to cover it up and try to make the parents out to be liars.

I'm sure the parents will get a high quality trial lawyer to take this case, and in discovery we will find out how much the school knew about this child and his tormentors.

7. Wait, I take that back. It is a state law, so I don't know if all the states
have anti-bullying regulations.

6. " He used his stepfather's 9 mm Beretta"
When are the parents going to be held accountable for their negligence?
