Big Trouble on Horizon for Republicans: Their Primaries Fail to Draw Non-white Voters
Much has been discussed and written in the mainstream media about how Republicans stand poised to gain seats in November's midterm congressional elections -- perhaps even taking control of the House of Representatives.

Much also has been discussed and written about the fact that for the first time since the 1930s, more people voted in Republican primaries than in the Democratic primaries, amid a wide "enthusiasm gap" between partisans of the two parties.

But almost nothing has been discussed and written about a striking pattern in the primary voter turnout that should sound loud alarm bells to the Republican Party's electoral viability in the future -- and not just Tea Party insurgents scoring stunning upset victories over establishment Republican candidates.

In state after state, the results found that turnout in the Republican primaries was overwhelmingly -- in some states, almost exclusively -- among white voters, as African-Americans continued to shun the GOP in droves, despite the largest number of black Republican candidates for Congress since the post-Civil War reconstruction era.

5. Latinos?
They --I think -- were key to 2008.

Their sentiment, turnout now?

17. I should have been more clear I was referring to the Republicans
All of their Latino bashing and supporting AZ laws etc has destroyed a vast amount of Latino support. The Republicans have insulted every minority group there is and they act surprised when the numbers come out that those groups that used to support them now loath them.

and yet no-one is talking or writing about this. After the 2008 Election I FELT that there will never again be a Republican President because of this fact, their demographic is Quickly SHRINKING because white people aren't having as many children and emigration favors the darker skinned people. If we can beat them now and keep the majority I think keeping it may get easier. Thanks and Recommend!

Now you know why the extremist wing of the anti-abortion movement has gone totally off the rails with paranoia.

Who's had the most abortions in this country in the 37 years since Roe v. Wade?

White women.

And who makes up the extremist wing of the anti-abortion movement?

White men.

4. What? You mean African Americans won't vote for
exploitative candidates--just because they are black? I'm shocked... totally shocked.

6. Oh, even better findings among Hispanics...
Of much greater concern to the party, however, Latino voter turnout in the GOP primaries also nosedived to record-low levels, the clearest sign yet of a backlash by Latino voters -- even conservative Cuban-Americans in South Florida -- against Republicans over the volatile issue of immigration that could have serious repercussions for the party in November and beyond.

7. By the middle of this century demographics will crush the white GOP.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Race_and_ethnicity_in_the_United_States

Immigration to the United States is what has produced its diverse population of today, and will continue to change its ethnic and racial makeup. A 2008 report from the Census Bureau projects that by 2042, non-Hispanic whites will no longer make up the majority of the population. This is a revision of earlier projections which projected this demographic change to take place in 2050.

Today, non-Hispanic whites make up about 68% of the population. This is expected to fall to 46% in 2050. The report foresees the Hispanic population rising from 15% today to 30% by 2050. Today African Americans make up 12% of the population, in 2050 they are projected to comprise 15% of the population. Asian Americans make up 5% of the population today and they are expected to make up 9% in 2050. The U.S. has nearly 305 million people today.

12. Rec!
This is the result of a year of hypocritical racism from many who represent this party of NO. I bet the unemployed, who they choose to give no help to and the sick who they would deny insurance to - I bet they will stay away from voting R as well.

Put it in "D" and let's go!!

14. The trick (as in every election) is getting minority voters out and
to the polls. Obama's election in 2008 was an exception, particularly with African-American voters. This time around there's plenty of apathy to go around, and I'm afraid we will see the relatively lower participation by African-Americans and Latinos that we've seen before this time, too. Hope I'm mistaken.

16. I believe you may be mistaken
The recent attacks on these groups via the Teapublican party will spur them to the polls. I have more faith I suppose.

15. Shreveport, Louisiana has a "wanna-be" white Rethug mayoral candidate...
who has an ad running now with him and TONS of black folk. In one scene he is opening a can of soda and giving it to a young black fellow, in the next scene he is helping a black man to load his trunk with bottled water... and it goes on and on. In one scene he is standing amongst a crowd of about 20 black women, and in another he appears to have the rapt attention of a couple of black women who are talking to him. There is only one scene with a white fellow and it looks like they are looking over some kind of "business plan".

So, in essence, he is playing "kindly Massah" with the black folk and doing his real business with the white guy. It is just so rife with tacit racism, but, you see, the blacks in Shreveport are supposed to just "come-a-runnin'" for BRYAN WOOLEY! This guy is a real piece of work. :puke:

Just bear in mind that Shreveport is 53% black and 42% white. Guess where the votes are, and this guy is working overtime on that segment of the population.

This current city councilman, cutesy, alpha white male Rethug is most definitely out to get that black vote! Shreveport's current mayor IS black - Cedric Glover.

Also, here is a link to his website where you can see him on the main page shaking hands with "Super-(Black)-Man"!!
