CREW Responds to House Republicans call for Ethics Trial
http://www.citizensforethics.org/crew-responds-house-republicans-ethics-trials

In response to the statement released by Rep. Jo Bonner (R-Ala.) and the other four Republican members of the House Ethics Committee demanding ethics trials for Congressman Charles Rangel (D-NY) and Maxine Waters (D-CA) prior to the November elections, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington Executive Director Melanie Sloan released the following statement:

"Congressman Rangel and Congresswoman Waters must answer for their actions, but when all five Republican members on the House Ethics Committee call for ethics trials to be scheduled right before an election, it sends the wrong message to the American people. The Ethics Committee should not be a weapon that members use to score political points, rather it must be a tool available to the American people to ensure that every member of Congress is behaving in a manner worthy of his or her office."

2. Republicans are using the Ethics Committee as a political attack tool.
And most Dems go right along with it.

4. What's hilarious is that Issa would chair the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee...
...if the GOP were to take the House. And Issa has said, publicly, that as chair he would DOUBLE the committee's investigative staff to go after Democrats.

I think he ought to be held to what he told Glenn Beck in an interview last year:

And look, I'm not telling people to vote against Democrats. I'm saying that your listeners should vote against Republicans or Democrats if they're continuing to vote for this big government. And hopefully, if a few Democrats gets taken out in the primary, and if there's any Republicans left foolish enough to vote for bigger government, take them out! Take both of them out, and we will have a better America.

This year, I'm doing something I don't normally do--I'm supporting candidates outside my electoral jurisdictions. And I made a point of sending a contribution to Issa's opponent, Democrat Howard Katz.

It was an unexpected surprise to receive a Thankyou card from Katz--with a nice handwritten note from him inside. It's an uphill fight for him, but he's one more dem candidate who deserves a lot of support.
