don't forget
While on the campaign trail in 2000, Bush told President Bill Clinton how to handle OPEC, in public no less. "What I think the president ought to do," he said, "is he ought to get on the phone with the OPEC cartel and say we expect you to open your spigots."

And in a brilliant, highly educational follow-up comment, Bush informed the audience: "One reason why the price is so high is because the price of crude oil has been driven up."

"OPEC has gotten its supply act together," Bush advised listeners, "and it's driving the price, like it did in the past."

"And," he said in direct advice to Clinton, "the president of the United States must jawbone OPEC members to lower the prices."

Apparently, Bush has lost the phone numbers for OPEC members, or they are refusing to take his calls, because I think it's safe to assume that he did not "jawbone" members of the OPEC cartel.

2. more
Since Bush took office, gas prices have increased 62.5% from $1.44 per gallon in January 2001 to $2.34 in March 2006. The average household with children will spend about $3,343 on transportation fuel costs this year, an increase of 75% since 2001, according to the Energy Information Administration, Retail Gasoline Prices, and Household Vehicle Energy Use: Latest Data and Trends, November 2005.

3. Had a good laugh this morning
as I was pumping gas ($3.55 per gallon) on CA central coast, a big giant pick em up pulling a trailer loaded with ATV's pulled up next to me. I noticed a W in 04 sticker on the back and another asking what would jesus do. The guy pumped over $100 worth of gas into the truck and another $30 into the ATV's, muttering the whole time about the fuckin ragheads holding us up and how we ought to nuke the whole bunch of them. As I was getting into my car I yelled over at the guy,"Ya know, gas was $1.29 a gallon when Clinton left the white house". No response - there wasn't a lot he could say.

hubby takes the city bus..it works for him.

my brother in law drives 48 miles one way to work, they can't move because my sister works in their home town.

7. That is why I propose that this nation move to a 4 day work week
We are all driving 5 days a week to work 8 hours a day consisting of 40 hours. We could do the same amount of work in 4 - 10 hour days and instantly save 20% of our weekly fuel consumption.

If the Congress and business was serious about saving energy, this would be the first thing they would do.

Work output wold not diminish, in fact in may even increase due to employee moral.
