‘When The President Does It, That Means That It Is Not Illegal’

Thirty years ago today:

Q: So what in a sense you’re saying is that there are certain situations…where the president can decide that it’s in the best interests of the nation or something, and do something illegal.

NIXON: Well, when the president does it, that means that it is not illegal.

Q: By definition.

NIXON: Exactly, exactly.

Watch it:

2. This idea that the president, who is a figurehead for a countries ethics
, morality and ideas of justice and humanity, is somehow at the same time immune to those same standards that the presidency represents, is bizarre and twisted.

I have a hard time understanding how anyone who can think in a straight line for longer than 2 seconds would believe this hogwash.

This sounds eerily familiar. Why is it we're reliving the '70's because of a bunch of idiots who ought to know better? :banghead:

4. Well Tricky One, why the need for a pardon?
A pardon that you lapped up like a plate of molasses.

5. Kings are above the law apparently, even today's group of
British royals (I have heard stories that are not printed). Nixon thought he was a king and apparently so does *w.
