WHA?!?! Fox News Gives Moore's "Sicko" Documentary a Thumbs Up!
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,273875,00.html

They still criticize his other films though...
Filmmaker Michael Moore's brilliant and uplifting new documentary, "Sicko," deals with the failings of the U.S. healthcare system, both real and perceived. But this time around, the controversial documentarian seems to be letting the subject matter do the talking, and in the process shows a new maturity.

Unlike many of his previous films ("Roger and Me," "Bowling for Columbine," "Fahrenheit 9-11"), "Sicko" works because in this one there are no confrontations. Moore smartly lets very articulate average Americans tell their personal horror stories at the hands of insurance companies. The film never talks down or baits the audience.

5. Moore said he made it for both sides
I think Mike is very smart in this one. Gathering republicans to agree with him on an issue they care about and their side pays little or no attention to.

7. Their viewers are not going to know how to handle that.
They're so used to being told how to think by FOX and yet this goes against their previous programming. They'll be shorting out left and right wandering around in little circles muttering, "FOX says Moore's brilliant and uplifting. Fatal System Error!"

It's so self evident now that 'conservatives' can't handle it. The so-called free market has failed us on healthcare since only the wealthy can afford to be ill.

Forced re-thinking is hard work, as * would say.

Another subtle misquote for the brainwashed masses? Variety's article properly quotes Moore as saying "flouts the law".

Sorry, I thought this might be April Fool's Day. FOX Noise (as KO calls it) praising a Michael Moore film? Did they finally start hiring people with a few working brain cells? Amazing.

I've been a big Michael Moore fan since "Roger and Me." Anybody know when "Sicko" hit the theaters here in the States?

15. Even though I agreed with Moore's conclusions in his prior movies...
I found his approach to be insulting, obnoxious, heavy-handed, and not likely to convince anyone who didn't already agree with him.

A better approach would have been to try to win over those who disagree, not insult and denigrate them. Perhaps that is the "new maturity" they are referring to. Perhaps this new film will actually reach the very people who NEED convincing.

26. No, I can't give you specifics.
All I can say is that I came away from the movies feeling that he was alienating the very people he should have been trying to reach. I didn't enjoy the movies. I agreed with them, but I didn't come away with positive feelings about Moore.

That's simply my gut reaction. I can't justify it objectively because it is a subjective thing.

18. When did Moore insult and denigrate those he disagreed with?
Yes, Moore has gone after the powerful but he certainly has not insulted or denigrated all those who disagree with him. If you have read the letters he has written to rank and file Republicans they have all been very respectful. Moore does much more to reach out to the other side than people give him credit for, I challenge you to find a single example of him attacking the rank and file Republicans.

28. Ah, now I understand.
So, you're saying that if I do not blindly agree with everything Moore does I'm a traitor to the cause?

When Bush says that those who disagree with him are supporting the terrorists, and when a liberal says those who disagree with him are Rushbots, well, either that "false dichotomy" tactic is legitimate or it is it not legitimate. You decide. Personally, I prefer thinking for myself rather than swearing blind allegiance to the party line. I don't find any cognitive dissonance in feeling that GWB is a jerk and simultaneously feeling that Michael Moore is a jerk. I can agree with someone's position without being obliged to like that person. Call it taking a nuanced position.
