Roger Daltrey blasts Gore's "Live Earth" concert
Who c-cares about Live Earth?

May 19, 2007

JUST when it looked like every rock star on the planet was jumping aboard AL GORE's green bandwagon, there’s a backlash already underway.

THE WHO's ROGER DALTRY has blasted the big Wembley gig Gore is organising to raise awareness of global warming.

The huge concert - which features performances from the likes of MADONNA and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS - is taking place at Wembley on July 7 and in other countries around the world.

But Roger, who played with U2 at Live Aid and Live8, reckons the whole thing is a waste of time.

Speaking exclusively to Bizarre, Roger said: "Bo***cks to that! The last thing the planet needs is a rock concert.

And I wonder how many actually read what his opinion is.

There is nothing this concert will achieve other than making some people feel good about themselves.

15. Rupert Murdoch has destroyed the press worldwide...
I think he bought a lot of those tabloids in the early/mid 80's over there, did some union busting and it caused massive news strikes all over the country. He won, and news has been shit ever since.

Did they have the half naked ladies in the tabloids before Murdoch came along?

...I lived in London from 1973 to 1978 (pre-Thatcher--it was cheap and liveable) and The Sun was still a right-wing rag with titty shots on Page 3.

Rupert didn't have to do a bloody thing to change it when he bought it.

He has a behavior disorder........It's a typical behavior seen seen in children of divorced parents or how a sibling reacts to the arrival of a new brother/sister into the family for example......It's called "attention seeking". :banghead: :woohoo:

14. Roger Daltrey: Pete Townshend's first butt boy with no talent of his own.
Good God!

Everyone knows that the only reason that Roger Daltrey was even in The Who in the first place was because Pete Townshend was fucking him daily back when Roger was quite good looking.

Pete was the band. Pete wrote the songs. Pete orchestrated the band...and Pete fucked Roger who, in turn, got to be at the mike...sometimes.

22. He is.
It was Roger's band before Pete joined and Roger always held it together when the other three were out boozing, drugging and womanizing (not that Roger didn't do his fair share of womanizing, but he wasn't a big boozer/doper).

Roger's in the band because it was his band.

(BTW, I'm a huge Who fan. I know entirely too much about the band. Hell, I can email Roger now, if you'd like, but he'll never check his email. He's computer-phobic).

Go back and read it again. Geesch. :eyes: yourself

P.S. I'm a Pete Girl, btw. I don't necessarily defend Roger out of hand, in the first place, but I do know why/what his place was in the band.

Also, for the record, Roger has three children with his wife, Heather, and four children out-of-wedlock, for a total of seven. I'm not defending him or even considering whether that's any of my busines (it's not), but I never said he should be fitted for a halo.

Oh - and I forgot one. He has another child by his first wife... so eight. But that still only makes four of them "illegitimate" (I don't really like that word. They're legitimately here, all right).

He didn't know about the four out-of-wedlock children until he was 50 years old, though. He stays in touch with them now.

That's about all I know.

24. The Last Thing The Planet Needs Is A Washed-Up Infomercialling Rock Star !!!
C'mon Roger, how much energy does if take to fly your fat ass to the studio to make infomercials for Time-Life "Legends" music CD's and Videos???

And how much energy is consumed manufacturing those CD's and Videos?

And how much electricity is used by millions of people playing those CD's and Videos?

And finally... how much money do you and the boys make every time somebody buys those CD's and Videos???

Dear Roger... we already know that Europe is well aware of the effects of Global Warming. What we are trying to do now is enlighten and call to action the people of my country. Because if we can't do that, then all your enlightened efforts will be for naught.

Now go out there, and don't get fooled again.

Pete didn't download ANY child porn. They never found SQUAT on any of his 13 computers - THIRTEEN. He was slapped on the wrist AFTER he reported finding something on the Internet when he was searching something about the popularity of adopting Russian children. Yes, out of curiosity, he tried to see what the hell it was (obvious kiddie porn) and the he REPORTED it to the proper authorities and, then three years later - THREE years - they fined and "cautioned" him for it. Stupid, arcane British law, much in the genre of our "three strikes" laws in that it had to be "prosecuted" even though it was a bunch of hooey.

BTW, I have known Pete since I was 14 years old and I can tell you that, quite honestly, he is NOT into kids. He's into SAVING kids from crap like this and was, himself, abused by his grandmother when he was four years old.

But you are correct about Roger - he can be a HUGE prick.

48. My frienda and I met the Who in 1980
...when they did their first tour after Keith had died. My one friend was a HUGE Daltry fan, so he let us take pix of them with their arms around each other, and was all-around charming to her. I swear, it just made her life worth living and he knew it, and was glad to do it.

However...

He was snarky, mean and nasty to me.

I am a 6'1" tall woman--all I can figure is that his 5'5" self took immediate umbrage to that fact, cuz he went on the offensive before I'd barely greeted him. Then, after they played the gig, the next day he was downtown with a reel of his film "McVicar" and let us into the premire. He was still sweet and charming to all my friends, but when I complimented him on his performace, he started to turn with a smile on his face, realised it was me, and gave out a monosyllabic grunt.

Well, that was my first and only encounter with him (I've since met Townshend a few more times after that) and I can only conclude that the man acts on impulse, says what he thinks and isn't always nice--although he has the capacity to be a doll. If the Murdoch newspaper really is accurate, then take the global-warming comment with a grain of salt before villifying him. Believe me, if anyone has cause to dislike him, it would be me, but I think he just doesn't think before he speaks.

26. Was the Who even ASKED to play?
Roger's got a lot of cajones to bitch, especially as the Who are either on tour NOW or are planning to embark on one shortly. Exactly WHO is burning all that fuel Roger? :sarcasm:

And I'm a huge Who fan, but he's lost his chops, Pete hasn't written anything original in years (he keeps pulling out riffs from earlier works) and the fact remains that the REAL group died completely when Entwistle died.

Roger, STFU and let the kids who can still hit it do the gig.

32. Apparently you didn't see them in concert.
I did. And Roger most definitely has NOT lost his chops.

The new CD is not Pete's best, but, save a riff or two in some songs, most of the album does not sound like their old stuff.

My husband, who was never a huge Who fan (until now), used to work for an arena and saw too many concerts to mention in his young adult life. He went with me in November to see The Who in Atlanta and he left saying it was once of the best-performed concerts of the hundreds he's seen in his life.

Sorry, I guess your opinion of Al Gore (whom I love, as well) is dragging down your opinion of The Who.

I, myself, can separate it. I had a go-around with Pete regarding Michael Moore about two years ago. We shook it off and it doesn't change my attitude toward either man (of course, I don't know Moore).

The last thing people need is to pay triple-digit prices to get in to see you, Roger, but then, you don't have a problem with that, for some reason. This is from a man who made a staggering fortune staging rock concerts. At least this one is for a good reason.

Certainly, the last thing the world needs is another rock concert with him at the mike.

Ozzie Osbourne, Dee Snyder,Grace Slick, and that's just covering the music I about which I can speak off the top of my head.

Now, there are front people who do it right. Imagine the Rolling Stones without Mick Jagger or the Red Hot Chili Peppers without Anthony Kiedis. How about No Doubt without Gwen Stefani?

Tough gig, though. Sounds like Roger's still a teeny bit bitter about it. MKJ
