Door-to-door spies in Utah County?

http://www.abc4.com/content/news/slc/story/Door-to-door-spies-in-Utah-County/sjOWsjk_zEqf6QeAfk4ZJw.cspx

Sales people working neighborhoods in Northern Utah County have been asking some odd questions that have nothing to do with making the sale. Folks are reporting that they're asking about the new National Security Agency's data center that is being built at Camp Williams.

The sales people say they're Israeli art students and are selling their works to raise money for a gallery. Some have even produced what appear to be legitimate Israeli passports.

So, why would art students be interested in an NSA data center?

Saratoga Springs residents have complained to their police department about the art students. Officer Matt Schauerhamer tracked down one group at a restaurant. He does not know if they were spies, but they're definitely not artists. "I told them, 'If you're actually an artist, why don't you draw something?' I gave them a piece of paper and gave them my pen. They produced a picture that was about on par with what my kindergartner could have done."

those Israeli art students sure get around

1. They were watching the Twin Towers the day they were hit.
Someone must have sent them tickets for the show.

2. Just one of those lost tribes of Lehi seeking to make a living
selling bobbles. I can't imagine there would be a fuss if they were Laminites.

4. You. Have. Got. To. Be. Fucking. Kidding. Me.

AGAIN?!

I post my obligatory link to Cryptome.org's coverage on the matter, including the un-redacted DEA report (which is in HTML on that page). I doubt even Cryptome is exhaustive on the subject but for those unfamiliar, it is a very interesting read.

6. Your links are very interesting.
So this is a pattern going back over a decade. All over the country.

Strange.

5. I thought we were so buddy buddy with Israel.
Why would young Israeli people have to be asking locals for top secret information?

Something smells here.

8. If they *are* spies - they probably *aren't* Israelis. Spies would have fake passports.
I'd bet on them being NSA agents trying to scope out the environs of their new data center.
